I love the concept of this toy, as I had been thinking it would be great to have a wand toy with a detachable toy. This works OK for that but I do feel the mouse-ball is a bit large and bulky. It's not something my cat is interested in going after; he's much more interested in the part that stays on the string (the hat and feather). Nonetheless, it's fun enough for him to play with without the mouse-ball and I have ideas for making my own smaller toy to attach.
Clever concept, slightly fiddly, & cat-approved

I bought this in part because it had zero reviews or ratings, and the gimmick is an idea I haven't seen tried before: well-concealed magnets in the mouse-head and the feathered "hat" attached to the string. When the two connect, the mousie can be dragged along with it. At its best, it creates a pretty cool illusion for the cat that the inert toy has suddenly started moving of its own accord. Effectively, it goes from being a "thing on a string" toy to a free-standing mousie my cat can beat up. My little guy definitely enjoyed it when I introduced him to it today, and he stayed interested! It's medium-fiddly to work with because the magnets are well-concealed and, by necessity, relatively weak (the cat needs to be able to overcome the magnetism.) The correct side of the hat needs to touch a specific part of the mousie for the two to connect. It takes some figuring-out, and if the mouse head lands oriented wrong - say, upside-down - you'll need to manually right it. One odd element is that the feather, which my little guy absolutely loves, is attached to the hat rather than the mousie. This is adorable from an aesthetic perspective (it's a cute feathered cap!), but in play, the bit my little guy is most interested in isn't the bit he can pull off the string. That's not a fatal problem, but it changes how the play works. I'm pretty impressed by the unique, clever concept, and although I'd knock off a star for the fiddliness, I'm bumping it back up because it overcame the "grabs my cat's attention" hurdle. There are a couple of things I hope the manufacturer will adjust in future iterations: a longer string would be very welcome, as well as a a visual indicator as to which bit on the hat needs to touch which bit on the mousie. Overall, I'm glad I took a chance on this one!
