I was a little disappointed as I thought the cage was a little bit bigger, as the dimensions stated in the ad was larger, I didn't realize that included the seed skirts in the dimensions. I do like that it is so very easy to clean, and sturdy. Next time I will be mindful and find out before hand the actual dimensions of the living space of the cage.
Other reviews said this was flimsy and hard to put together/no directions etc.. I found this not to be true. The box was in good shape, I was careful to keep the box in case I needed to return the cage.. unpacking I found everything was there and in beautiful condition. The enamel finish is pretty thick and nice on this cage. The cage fits together with slots and tabs.. if you lay the pieces out like the diagram and put them together as numbered, it is a breeze. The finished cage was solid and quite nice quality.. I was done in an hour from unpacking to finished product. If you are patient and methodical you will have no problem building this cage. I did have one metal tab that was bent, so with a cloth wrapped on it, and using pliers, I carefully bent it back.. no problem. You want to be very careful not to scratch the enamel.. then the cage might rust in those places after you wash down the cage.. but they even enclosed touch up paint in the kit in case that happens. I am really satisfied with this item.
Nice cage, and sturdy, but upon assembly there was a missing piece to one of the wheels so we had to use without wheels. Also the seed catcher has nothing bolting it to the cage itself it just kinda hangs there, and depending on bird could be hazardous. Latches to hold food cup doors are operational when they wanna be ...can be easy or a pain depending on the day.
I normally don't leave reviews but when it comes to certain things, reviews really help. Pet homes are one of them! So we bought this cage because it was decently priced for what it was- we viewed other cages that were almost identical but were $100+ more, and I'm familiar with the Midwest company and their dog crates (they're pretty good!). However, after getting this cage and setting it up...we'll be spending that extra money. Some of the bars and stuff were dented when it got here but honestly it wasn't a huge deal breaker- we planned to live with it until we put the entire thing together and realized how cheap the cage actually is. Putting it together is pretty easy but almost TOO easy to the point where the cage is pretty flimsy. It relies a lot on weight and counterweight- there are no tools or anything needed, so you're just popping things into place. The wheels are the only thing that took effort to pop in which wasn't super reassuring for us. We felt like the thing could be bumped into and fall completely apart, it was that flimsy. I'm really, really thankful for Chewy's lenient return policy because we will be sending it back tomorrow to purchase a cage that's a little pricier but I think in the end, it's well worth spending that extra money.
Okay. Not super hard to put together. No tools needed. I was unable to attach the seed guards. There is no place to do that and the directions were not helpful. The directions had a website for videos on help to put together but that site no longer existed. I searched for the Midwest company but all they had for help was a picture of the paper directions. Really need a video. The play top perch is not stable. It rocks. I don’t think birds will like. We removed it. Last thing is that it only comes with one wooden perch. This is a decent size cage and really needs two. Since a 2nd wasn’t provided, it should be an option to add on. I got rope perches for my bird as he would’ve able to access half the cage without. Other then that, it looks nice. Bird will not go near it but it has only been a day. May take a couple weeks for him to warm up to his new digs.
Love it. Dogs can't mess with the bird. Easy to clean
