The crate was easy to assemble and seems well made. It did not come with wheels and we will see if we need them. The only thing I don’t like about it is that the latch to open and close the door is hard to maneuver and require strong fingers to squeeze the latch. Otherwise it is roomy enough for our 18 pound pup.
My little puppy feels safe and secure in his "Big House." He willingly walks into it and falls into a deep sleep. Sleeps all night on a soft fluffy cushion I put inside. Even with the "surgical cone" around his neck, he has plenty of room to turn around and explore. 5 months old, 10 pounds.
This is an update to my initial review. I've had one of these carriers for several years and the quality is great - never had a single issue with it. I recently purchased a second one, and it's significantly worse. The plastic is slightly warped, so that the upper and lower portions are nearly impossible to slot together. Also because of this, one of the vertical posts that holds the door in place is extremely difficult to align with the hole, so that I have to forcefully push the door inward in order to get it to lock in place. I'd be worried about taking this carrier to the vet - it seems likely that they would miss this step and not securely close the door, making it possible for my cat to escape. No idea if the overall quality of Midwest products has gone down or if this is a fluke, but definitely not worth the price!
This crate is usually great for keeping my dog in. However. He has managed to chew through today. Thank goodness he is okay!
Wonderful design, easy set up. Unfortunately got demolished by a Doberman... would buy again for smaller dog.
I thought I was ordering the same kennel I have elsewhere, but instead received this. It was incredibly hard to put together. I called customer service a few times, went on the website and asked friends. Finally did it, but nothing like what was shown. It is not as sturdy as I had hoped as well. Not worth what I paid for it.
The write up says a rolling crate but no wheels are included. In small print it tells you they are sold separately and where to buy them, but when you go to the site they say, there are no wheels available, In fact, the crate isn't even available!!! Now I have a disabled person trying to roll a crate that has no wheels. Also, not easy to carry because it is designed to roll. VERY UPSET!!!
Our large breed puppy loves his "room".
The plastic buckles broke. Had to use zip ties to hole it together
I bought this to transport my 9 pound Italian greyhound to dog shows. On the first use, the door lock got jammed and I had to take the top off to get her out. Fixed the lock and it has been working fine. I also bought the wheel kit from Midwest so I could roll it into the shows. Today two plus months into owning it, I discovered a massive crack in the bottom half of the crate. This crate either sits in my garage or is in the back of my suv for transport. Has not been roughly handled at all. I have a 30 year old crate that I replaced with this because the door rattling was driving me crazy but it has been through multiple dogs, shows, moves and air line handling and has zero cracks. I guess they dont make them like they used to.
