Mile Four 18% Organic Whole Grain Grower Chicken & Duck Feed, 2-lb bag

I’ll start with the positives. Whenever I’ve purchased the smaller bags of this feed, whether it was starter mash, or grower whole grain, the quality of the feed in the 2 pound size is excellent. It smells great, like something you would eat yourself. My chickens love it. But on two occasions when I’ve gotten the 23 pound bags it’s been very different in quality than the smaller bags. One time I purchased the starter mash in the 23 pound size and it smelled like a cross between mushrooms and tobacco, like something fungal had gotten inside and permeated all the feed, which was darker than usual. Had to throw out the whole bag. Then I gave it one more chance because they love the feed in the smaller sizes, like I said, and I purchased a 23 pound bag of the grower whole grain. The smell is fine, not as good as the 2 pound bag, but there doesn’t seem to be as much whole grain. It looks like a cross between the mash and the whole grain. Just very inconsistent quality. It’s a shame. I was thinking I would be with this brand for life, even though it’s more expensive, because my chickens really love the taste in the smaller sizes.

I have used the grower feed and layer feed from Mile Four but am tired of having all the peas on the ground. My chickens all hunt for the rest of what in this formula and are left hungry. I wish the peas were either smaller or did not make up the bulk of this feed.

I was disappointed with an order back in May, b decided to give Mile Four another shot. I’m glad I did. The feed I received a week ago is amazing. I reached out and they told me they did move locations and adjust the grains. Perfect consistency in my two 23lb bags. Thanks again!
