About Modesto Milling

Modesto Milling was established in 1974 as a dairymen’s co-op. In 1997, a group of local dairymen convinced the Board of Directors to start manufacturing organic dairy grain mixes. By January 1998, Modesto Milling gained its organic certification from Oregon Tilth of Salem, Ore. They became the first organic grain processor in Central California, and ever since, Modesto Milling has been manufacturing high quality organic feed for many different types of livestock.

this feed has garlic, rosemary, etc. Don't these products taint the milk?

The small amount of garlic and rosemary in Modesto Milling feed does not effect the milk. In fact, rosemary in the diet of lactating goats has a positive effect on nutrient digestibility and milk yield. Goats love garlic and it is used in Modesto Milling feed for palatability. Garlic also can improve energy status of dairy goats.

Can you feed this to whethers

This feed can be fed to whether goats. Keep in mind the metabolic urinary calculi when feeding any male ruminate grain.

How do you calculate how much feed to give a lactating doe

Feed at a rate of 2-3% of the growing kids and mature goat’s body weight. Feed with good quality hay. Provide plenty of clean, fresh water at all times.

My normal source was sold out so ordered through chewy as an emergency. Got it quickly but its way more expensive per bag, and half the pellets were smashed so the bag was half dust. Works for an emergency but won't be ordering regularly.
