Our Westie went blind suddenly last summer. My question. If he used your "Halo" how would he lie down and sleep, He is an older dog and lies down a lot. It looks like wearing the "Halo" would be very uncomfortable and would not allow for resting.

With the halo, is it difficult going through doggie doors? Our blue heeler recently went blind but can always find the doggie door.

I need help figuring out which size to buy for my dog
Answer by ChewyJun 23, 2021
The sizing chart may be located by clicking the “Size” tab, next to the “Description” and “Instructions” tabs, just under the product photos. To determine the best size we recommend that you measure your dog's chest girth (circumference), neck girth (circumference) and profile. To measure the chest girth you'll measure around the broadest part of the rib-cage behind the front legs and to measure for the neck girth you'll measure at the broadest part of the neck. To measure the profile you'll measure starting at the tip of the nose and end at the back of their head, just behind their ears. If the dog happens to be in between sizes it's then recommended to select the bigger size.

Bump No More

I have 2 blind dogs. The min-pin/chi mix never skipped a beat and goes throughout the house without an issue. My 25 lb golden doodle never figured it out and became more fearful and withdrawn. He's one of 5 dogs. When the other dogs approached him he would try to escape and run into things so hard he would yelp. The first day with his halo he was back to being my funny, friendly, sweet boy. He walks around with confidence and loves his halo. He can even run without fear. I ordered a second one so I can have one to wear and one to wash.

Top 1000 Contibutor

no better option in the market

Yes expensive, yes the Velcro is annoying, but this is the only available model that has a halo sit over their eye level, which means no dragging halo when they smell or eat. Do not take the halo or wing structure on and off from the harness which will weaken the Velcro and will be unusable. I really wish at least the harness has a buckle.

No title

The halo seems to be well made and easy to put on. My problem is that once on, my dog becomes a statue and doesn't move. She may lie down but will keep her head up. And that's the way she stays for hours. The minute I take the halo she hops and skips around banging into walls. Any solutions?

Avoid those bumps!

I'm very pleased with the Halo harness. The measurements were spot on and the fit was just right which was a concern. With his spotty eyesight, he was bumping into things so this gives me peace of mind that my baby will be safe and avoid bumping into stuff, especially when we're outside of the home in unfamiliar territory for him. Hes been able to navigate home pretty well. One important tip is not to change your home around when your dog's eyesight becomes patchy or they're completely blind.

It’s just okay

It kinda works. I have a basenji and I get the concept, but it seems like the engineering of the hoop needs to be reinforced. Maybe it’s just my dog.

Blind dog rescue

It works!!! Huge help that our old lady is not hurting herself running into table legs. And the Halo can be removed for time she is being carried.

Muffin’s halo

This is everything I hoped it would be. First of all, it is made of quality materials. Have not had any trouble with the harness slipping. The halo does not get in the way of sniffing the ground, eating or drinking. It seems to be very comfortable to wear and the halo protects my dog’s nose from repeatedly banging into things. He hits something, stops and adjusts his trajectory. No bruised nose. He explored our entire front yard (1 acre) full of trees and a dry creek bed. I highly recommend this product.

Unfortunately, it does not work

I wish that I did not have to write this negative review because I was so hoping this Halo for blind dogs would work. I have tried to be patient and keep trying for it to work for my 17 year old Shih Tzu who became totally blind last year. He is in very good shape for his age and although veterinarians say dogs can adapt to being blind, my poor dog has not been so lucky with that scenario. He is now having to be in a small limited space for he bangs into everything and it is not good for his comfort. This Halo was my only hope to let my dog walk freely around the house as he did in the past. The halo would not stay in place and ended up under my dogs front paws like a hula hoop all the time and I tried all the suggestions that could make it work with no success. The concept is good but I just could not get it to work for my dog.

Thank you for creating such a great product!! I just put it on my Brussels that has a heart murmur thyroid problems and was diagnosed with Cushing Disease a year and 4 months ago the Cushing turn her into a diabetic and 6 months later she went blind. She can now be independent again and gain her confidence back no problem with laying down sleeping or walking around with it at all. What a great invention you have made available Thank you from the bottom of my heart !!!!

Angel found her halo

Our little angel crossed the rainbow bridge today and traded this halo for a new one. It helped her in her last few days and we are grateful for that.
