Feeding Instructions

Designed to be served dry or with warm water to increase aroma for your dog. These recommendations are guidelines only using a standard 8 oz. measuring cup. Due to high palatability, free-choice feeding is not recommended. We recommend splitting the following daily guidelines into two meals. Mix one part dry to one part water and mix thoroughly. All recommendations should be adjusted based upon your dog’s body condition, life stage, activity, and environment temperature. Provide fresh water in a clean bowl daily. Be sure to take your pets to your local veterinarian for proper health examination.

Transition Instructions

How do you transition?

The general idea is to slowly decrease the amount of your pet's current food while increasing the amount of new food you wish to use. We recommend taking about 7-14 days to gradually transition to the new food. Every pet is different though, and some may require more time than others. As always no one knows your pet better than you and your veterinarian. These are only suggested guidelines.

On the first few days (up to 4 days) use the ratio of 25% new food to 75% current food. Be sure to monitor your pet to make sure it's going well, gradually increase the percentage to a 50% new/50% current for days 5 through 8. Gradually increase the percentage to 75% new/25% current for days 9 through 11. Your pet should be at 100% new food around days 12 through 14.

Introducing a topper to your pet's diet is a little simpler. We recommend you try a tiny bit on top or mixed into your pet's regular food. If they tolerate this well, you can increase the amount gradually. Wait a day to see how their whole body (not just their tongues!) process the change and then add more over time. If the addition of a topper is successful, we recommend you decrease the amount of their other food appropriately to help your pet achieve their nutritional goals.

As you add new things to a complete and balanced diet, it's always good to observe what your pet does. Do they gulp it down? Do they chew the food well? Do they sniff the food and back away? These observations will help you decide if the transition to the new food is going well.
