The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.
Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.
For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels.
For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.
Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!
When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 - 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

Perfect Food for Sensitive stomach
By yayyy on Feb 8, 2021
I discovered my lab was gluten free after trialing multiple expensive foods for MONTHS all while he was having firehose power diarrhea my poor baby. not to mention i took him to the vet 3 times for this issue and paid for many bags of expensive food. I began investigating ingredients in his food and the one food that didn’t make him have diarrhea had no gluten. i started researching about gluten sensitivity in dogs and you guessed it! I found a parade of other black lab owners with the same problem! I tried this food because at that point i figured what did i have to lose! it’s gluten free but has grains which is very important to me. the ingredients are good and my vet was very impressed by I discovered my lab was gluten free after trialing multiple expensive foods for MONTHS all while he was having firehose power diarrhea my poor baby. not to mention i took him to the vet 3 times for this issue and paid for many bags of expensive food. It’s a relief to know my dogs digestive system has finally found a friendly food! My almost two year old German Shepherd has moderate to severe food allergies. Fantastic Find!
By Reviewer on Jan 30, 2021
I’m so grateful to have found this food. After some major stomach issues and a $1,500 hospital bill, we discovered our pooch is allergic to chicken. Additionally, he started having head tremors last summer. Finding a grain-inclusive, limited ingredient food without chicken felt overwhelming! Since switching to this, he has no stomach issues and has not had a single tremor. I know they could reappear at any time, but I’m optimistic! Thank you, Natural Balance!

it made me put a title
By katie on Feb 13, 2021
My dog had a chicken/beef allergy. I love that I can feed him a protein he isn’t allergic to, that has brown rice. After all the studies about grain free enlarging hearts, I’ve been steering clear of them... but it’s so hard to find something that isn’t grain free that is chicken/beef free!! Both dogs love this food, and have done really well on it.

Only food my bulldog can eat.
By SadieBulldog on Jan 25, 2021
Been feeding my English Bulldog(s) Natural Balance for many years and they have always done great with it. My female has some food allergies and this is the only food she does really well on. As a side-note, Chewy is an amazing company and I've received orders often in less than 24 hours of ordering.

Changed formula no longer works for my dog
By bellsprout on Nov 25, 2020
I agree with the other folks that the formula clearly changed this year. I was so happy to have found a food kibble that was LID with grains. My girl has a very sensitive stomach but really digested this well. We had the grain free version at first and she farted a lot until we switched to with grains. Now with the formula change, my dog doesn’t digest this food well anymore (much larger stools, not solid) and she’s back to farting again. We’re switching foods because it can’t possibly make her feel good being so gassy.

Good for my dog.

I've always bought Natural Balance dry food for my dog. Decided to try a different formula. She absolutely loves the lamb and brown rice.

Doggo seems to enjoy
By Meaghan on Nov 27, 2020
My boy has so many food allergies that it's hard to find food that he can have. The food we were getting for him suddenly became unavailable everywhere, and since I didn't want him to starve, I decided to change his food. After a fairly exhaustive search, I settled on this one. He inhales it and his allergies aren't any worse so I guess we'll call this a win

Good choose

My Dog loves it. thrives on it. All skin reactions from another food are gone. He’s back to the active boy he’s always been. Thank you chewy for your delivery to my door

Wouldn’t recommend
By Robyn on Nov 11, 2020
My dog, who usually eats anything, refused to touch this food. I thought maybe he didn’t like the lamb, so I switched him to the chicken and brown rice. He threw up yellow foam every morning for two weeks. Just switched him to a LID chicken-based diet from a more well-known brand and he is no longer sick. I would stay away.
