Finding a high protein dog food that works for my Vizsla has been so hard. This food works great and doesn’t make her crazy hyper after eating it. Food does expand a little in water but not a lot, and if you read the label you’ll see the protein content is high because of the beef collagen. That means meat proteins (fish) for muscles etc and collagen protein for coat health etc. Both great! Will be watching longer term to see how she does on this but so far I’m very pleased!

I always make sure that my dogs’ food has real meat as the first ingredient. This food has premium fish, herring and salmon as the first two ingredients along with other choice ingredients for a complete healthy kibble that’s made in the USA. The small sized kibble is perfect for my five small dogs, which include three chihuahua/ terrier mixes and two yorkies. They range in weight from 7 to 16 pounds. I mixed this kibble with their current kibble to avoid a sudden dietary change. It has an appealing flavor that my dogs and two foster dogs all like.

I decided to give this kibble a try because my dog loves anything and everything salmon. Although I mainly feed him wet, fresh foods, he tires of anything I give him and seems to appreciate a change now and again. After trying Natural Farm Fish Recipe, I am happy to add this food to his rotation. This fish recipe food is made in the USA, which is a plus for me. The first two ingredients are herring and salmon, both high quality proteins rich in omega-3 fatty acids. And I have to say, he gobbled it up like it was his first real meal! I think this food would be particularly good for dogs with protein sensitivities. Or maybe just for finicky, salmon-loving dogs like mine!

I've been slowly introducing this food into my dog's diet by mixing a little into his current food and increasing the the ratio on the new food every 2 days. He's almost a week into this new food and so far he hasn't had any issues. He isn't generally picky about his food at all so he's scarfing this one down like there hasn't been a change in his food at all. It smells good and his stools are nice and solid and regular too. His poop is still smelly but that's what poop is LOL. If you look at the ingredient list the first two ingredients are two types of fish and then the second and third ingredients are two different types of fish meal and then comes the rest of the items which are oils and vitamins and so forth. So I would say that the ingredient list is on the higher inside although not the highest but it's not bad. I've seen worse where it's a lot of fillers right at the top of the ingredient list.

I have two dogs, one is a picky eater and one has a sensitive stomach. They both ate this without issue. It did not upset my sensitive dog's stomach. And my picky girl ate it and cleaned her plate. If there was one issue, it was the mild fishy smell. That may have more to do with they do not often get fish flavored kibble. The smell was appealing to my cat, that was hoping the dog would leave a few pieces of kibble for him!
