Questions & Answers

6 Customer Questions

are these tendons from the USA or some where else
Answer by ChewyApr 14, 2022
Nature gnaws sources all their beef with local farmers in South America. In fact, some of the best beef in the world comes from this region. They are cleaned with water and baked in an FDA approved facility. From there, the treat is shipped to the United States where it is hand inspected by their team before arriving at your doorstep.

The nutritional info in the description says 3,400/kcal; the bag says 3,100/kcal. Which is it, and (dumb question) is this for the entire bag or just one little chew??
Answer by ChewyMar 26, 2021
These treats have a calorie content of 3,222 kcal/kg (kilocalories per kilogram), or 40 kcal/piece (kilocalories per piece).

How long are these good for after opening?
Answer by ChewyOct 25, 2021
These have a shelf life of 2 years. We recommend to seal them in an airtight bag to maximize freshness.

Are these tendons irradiated
Answer by ChewyMar 01, 2021
These treats are irradiated for safety.

Smells atrocious

These smelt so horrible, and were shriveled up thin strips that smell like rotting carcass. Wouldn't feed this garbage to my dogs, or anyone elses. I had bought these before and they were good and thick, easily digested, and didn't smell and look like they were rotted before dried. Too bad. Waste of money and Ill be just that less likely to buy a product that I cant see before I buy

Stinky yet satisfying

Yes, these smell. Yes, my dog loves them. Yes, they occupy her chompers for a few minutes so that I can have online meetings in relative peace and quiet. These are a winner in my house. If you can deal with the fragrance (think sour laundry smell) then these could be for your dog!

usually a four paws rating

Our dog enjoys these overall,but...the first shipment was exceptional on auto ship, subsequent packages not so great.... For the price each piece was very spindly and not at all substantial for a 70+ pound Pitt..... A few of the pack s contained just 4 or 5 pieces? I'm hoping she continues to enjoy them or may have to look for something worth the price.

Great puppy floss

Better smelling than a bully stick and less messy. My pup like these but not love like the trachea. Quite pricey but it give you about half an hour to an hour quiet time when needed. The product came in a variety of sizes and thickness. This one bag last me a week up to a month depending on how many I give in a week. Great for teething!!

Not for my 50lb dog

I usually buy the Redbarn tendons but they have been out recently. These do not last my 50lbd dog very long- 10 minutes tops. Maybe if your dog is a slow chewer these could be right for you? At least she enjoys them while they last.

Good, but...

These tendons are nice chews, they last awhile, I got this size for my pug and Pomeranian, they both take chews down pretty quick. I like that these are a natural chew, so I don’t have to worry about them affecting my dogs badly. They only complaint I have for these, is as they chew them they get stringy and very soft. If they chewed off a big chunk that was soft I wouldn’t want them swallowing it. I just cut it off as they chew it so they don’t choke on it. Otherwise, I will definitely be buying these again.

Tasty, but short-lived

I have a 50 lb Aussiedoodle puppy and he LOVES beef tendon chews, they're one of his favorite treats ever. I'm constantly on the search for a tendon that is thick, good quality and somewhat long-lasting. Unfortunately, these did not pass the test. They are good quality and packaged well, with no weird scents or anything. But they are definitely very thin and did not last any longer than 10 minutes. My dog definitely enjoyed the treat but seeing as they barely last a few minutes, I don't think it's worth the cost for my dog! Maybe it would last smaller dogs longer?

Nature Gnaws Chews Beef Tendon

These chews can be eaten rapidly because they are thin and long like a piece of bacon. I only used one piece and discarded the rest un-used. Our vet said not to allow our dogs to chew them.
