  • Great for dogs who have issues with food staying down

    By on

When I adopted our min-pin mix no one told me about his unfortunate tendency to not be able to hold down certain types of dry kibble. I always feed my dogs a good quality or prescription diet kibble recommended by my vet but after several failed attempts I ended up talking with the vet. He prescribed a prescription diet for sensitive stomachs but that attempt failed miserably as well. The next suggestion he had was a grain-free kibble that had salmon & pumpkin in it. Though this brand also had sweet potato in it, from some research I did on my own, I knew that sweet potato is also a good additive for belly issues. I decided on this brand. Leroy's been eating it for almost 3 years now and has not experienced any belly and diarrhea problems since. He took to it quite quickly and apparently it must be tasty as our cat tries to sneak a kibble or 2 also. Not that we don't feed Nibbles well because we do, but she is quite insistent on eating a piece or two at least once a day! As for price...I've been paying just a few cents shy of $50 for the big bag all this time. Then my brother mentioned about Chewy so I started looking. The price they offer is so outrageously affordable that I am actually frustrated with myself for overpaying as badly as I way! Since I just purchased a bag only a very short while ago, I added this to my auto ship list. I'll never overpay again! Thanks Chewy! … more

  • OMG my lab went CRAZY

    By on

I was amazed when I gave my lab a taste!! Figuring like all other foods that I have tried the last 2 years that he would not like and walk right past or that I would have to add cheese, eggs, or something else to the mix HE WENT CRAZY and hardly let me get my hand out of the bag to give him another handful!! SO glad I finally gave Chewy a chance and will continue to auto sip from here on out. Just wish there were bigger bags. This size won't last long especially the way he went crazy for his first few bites! Thanks Chewy!!

  • Boxer Loves This

    By on

Our Boxer Loves this like really loves this. He will eat his whole bowl and then sit in his kennel and wait for more food. Now gets half of this with a fresh fish and vegetable stew I make for him and our newfoundland. He is allergic to chicken and has yeast issues with many hard dog foods. After we got his weight up and steady on a full homemade I tried many different foods most of them he would either not eat at all or he would turn yeasty within a day of eating them. We found this one and I decided I didn't have anything else to loose, plus the ingredients seemed pretty reasonable. From the moment I poured this into his bin he was right there ready to eat and he eats up every bite that he's Our Boxer Loves this like really loves this. It's nice that this can be delivered right to our door. Thank you Chewy.com!! … more

  • A great, affordable alternative to Grain-Free Blue Buffalo

    By on

Since I found out my pup had a grain allergy that caused patches of fur to fall out (she was 5months), she's been eating Grain-Free Blue Buffalo. Now, I love my dog to pieces, but over the course of 3 years that gets pretty friggin' expensive. My vet recommended Nature's Recipe because it's very, very similar to Blue Buffalo at a more palatable price. My dog LOVES this food and my wallet LOVES not paying out the butt for it. It's been a couple months and she's had no hair loss or itchiness, and honestly she prefers this to her usual food.

  • Dogs like it and allergies are clearing up

    By on

The reason we switched food is one of our dogs became allergic to the previous brand of food. After eating this for about a month he is looking and feeling much better. It seems to have high quality ingredients and we like that its grain free. It must taste good as well. Both boys clean out the bowls at every meal. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that its not offered in larger than 24 pound bags. Having 2 large dogs we usually go through it in less than a week.

  • Just what we needed

    By on

My new rescue boxer/pit mix was having tummy issues with regular food. As soon as we switched her to this grain free food her tummy troubles are gone. Her coat is much softer and shiny as well. Now all 3 dogs eat it. I love that I can get it delivered right to the house so I don't have to try to lug around a huge bag by myself with spine issues. Chewy has the best price I've found on this food too. The auto-ship option makes it so convenient. I don't have to worry about running to the store when they run out.

  • Quality food at a great price

    By on

I have been using the Salmon formula for over seven years and my three big dogs have not had any food allergies or gastro issue with this food. Their coats are all really nice and their muscles are very lean. I have two pitbulls and a Lab all active, and are ages 4, 8, and 12. So the food covers a wide range of ages. Highly recommended.

  • good value

    By on

I am fostering a very overweight senior lab. He was on a food for inactive overweight dogs, but he smelled so bad. I read that it could be the grain. So I switched him to Nature's Recipe salmon, sweet potato, and pumpkin. It has no additives so I put glucosamine in it with a tablespoon of inexpensive canned salmon to cover it. He seems to enjoy it. The bad smell is gone and his coat has improved and he seldom scratches.

  • Yummy! Yummy!

    By on

The second I took the bag out of the chewy box my dog couldn't stop sniffing it! That might both gobbled it up like they hadn't eaten in months! I guess it was good! Haha It smells really good too. That might just be me being weird haha but it smells amazing to me too! It's only been a day in this food so I'll update my review once I see if it has any positive or negative affects. Hopefully only positive though!

  • Eh... wasn't our cup of tea.

    By on

Bought this food trying to put my boy on something with smaller kibble size (big bits got stuck in his teeth). It was great for almost a week & then he was having very loose stool. I figured it's a new kind of food, I was prepared to see a transition phase. Well this transition phase lasted 2 weeks. We were seeing batter consistency stools.. no clue why, but we are switching back to his other food.
