I tried the Neakasa M1 and overall it’s a good auto litter box if your cat does their business in the middle and covers it. The open-top design made it very easy for my cat to accept right away, and the size is great for bigger cats. However, my cat tends to pee and poop right on the edge, which causes a lot of waste to stick to the side. Because of that, I found myself needing to clean it more often than expected, which defeats the purpose for me. That’s the main reason I decided to return it. Customer service was very good and the return process was smooth. If your cat uses the litter box “normally,” I would recommend it. it’s very convenient and saves you from cleaning the box every day.

I have had several different types over the years. Most leave me annoyed and wondering why I dumped a bunch of money into something that needs more maintenance and expense then just a box with a scoop. This one Is definitely getting there. Still is a huge mess if all the constructions aren’t perfect. Use’s normal litter which is a huge plus. Easy to empty and hasn’t messed up all the senses yet. I have hopes!

Bought this box to work with my obese older kitty who does not like closed in spaces. But It will not work unless I have a 2.4 GHz network which is ARCHAIC. This is a total deal breaker. I need to return this. If I had wanted to manually clean the cat box every time the cat uses the box then I would have a regular cat box but I spent nearly 400 dollars to buy a box that will not clean automatically and it will not because the app that goes with this box does not work with a 5 GHz network, which is what everyone has and is typical these days. It only works with a 2.4 GHz network speed! I cannot find a solution for getting it to work with 5 or to adjust my router to be able to adapt to 2.4 GHz. I have tried setting my phone up as a personal hotspot source but that does not work either. No way to use it as it will not connect to my network. Most automatic boxes I have had NEVER need my WiFi network password or need a 2.4 GHz network in order to function! Very upset.

I’ve been using the Neakasa M1 in kitten mode for my young cat, and we both absolutely love it. He took to it right away, no fear or hesitation, and uses it regularly without any issues. It’s super convenient for me, keeps the litter clean at all times. I also love how easy it is to remove the waste bag from the bin. In terms of safety, I’ve had zero concerns, and I really appreciate how responsive Neakasa has been, launching firmware updates and even providing hardware upgrades at no cost when needed. I feel supported, and more importantly, I know my kitten is safe and comfortable. Total 5-star experience!

Cons: - I had to replace the first base after just a month since the motor didn't hold up. Got in touch with neakasa and they sent a new one after a bit back an forth. The support was quite slow and I had to remind them several times for a reply (i think it whas atleast another month untili got it). But in the end I got the new base! That being said I still think the motor is to weak and I trust I will have to contact them again... - I think for the premium price it is, the support could be way better. Pros: This litterbin, when inte works it works perfectly. The only things I have to do is empty the bag about twice a weak, refill with sand and deepclean it form time to time.

I have two Neakasa M1 and two Litter Robot 4. I have 17 indoor cats (we are an animal sanctuary). Although I still believe that there is no such thing as a perfect self-cleaning litter pan, the Neakasa M1 comes closest. I really wish I didn't get the Litter Robots, which both got infected with maggots when I used a wheat based litter. The Neakasa, with the same litter, was totally fine! The only thing the Neakasa doesn't like is "Lightweight" litter, I think it gets confused with the weight, but if I recalibrate it helps. I use the Neakasa app often, I never look at the Litter Robot one. Also, my cats much prefer the open top of the Neakasa than the closed-in Litter Robot. I do use cat stairs so that my 25 lb big guy can use the Neakasa, but he has no problems using it at all. All my cats prefer the Neakasa to any other litter box in the house. Honestly, I highly recommend the Neakasa M1 boxes, they have made my life so much easier!

I like the way it works and that it is open.

The problem came when my middle cat refused to use it. Maybe he's afraid of what he sees as height off the ground. It was returned.
