I am a wheelchair bound senior, I love Chewy, not only easy for me to shop for my pet needs, but the assistance from the folks at Chewy's are always such a help to me. I have been shopping online for several years, always fast, easy and accurate....
My dog has been having trouble with his rear hocks so I ordered these braces thinking they would help. I used the chart on the products website to measure the leg and order the recommended size. When I got it and put it on, I could tell it was too big. My dog is black lab. His legs measure 5.25 inches above the hock. Their chart say 5 to 6 inches is an extra large. It is way too big for him, The edges of the brace overlap when trying to strap the brace on snug and the brace easily slips off the leg. IT does not provide any compression or support. IT might work if it were the right size but its a small piece of neoprene with a hole in it and two reflective velcro straps. Seems very expensive for what you get
We have an almost 9 yr old Great Dane who is having trouble with arthritis. Her hocks have become unstable. We wanted to try some support wraps and I went straight to Chewy. The questions and reviews are extremely helpful when trying to find what might work for our pup. I ordered these and they were exactly what we were hoping they would be for our Mystic. She wears them for a few hours in the morning for her walk and farm chores ,which she loves. Then again in the evening for walks and chores. They are easy on /off and clearly comfortable to her. I believe she is now well aware they are helping her. I just ordered 2 pair of the neoally longer hock support wraps . The sizes run a bit differently on the longer ones,so I got a large and xl. I will keep the ones that fit her best and return the other. I completely agree that you need to support both legs. The neoally products we have tried are well represented and what you see is what you get.
My dog zoomied too hard one night and injured herself. After a few trips to the vet that included X-rays, the actual injury was an unidentifiable soft tissue injury. I had noticed her right hock looked swollen, so I decided to try these braces. They have made a HUGE difference. Before we started using them my poor pup would just stand in the yard in one spot, afraid to move because she knew it would hurt. Almost as soon as I put these braces on her she was walking around, and actually trying to take me on a walk down the street! I was also worried that she would hate having them on (this dog will run around the yard as fast as she can when I put boots on her so that they will fall off) but she doesn’t mind wearing them at all! She doesn’t even mess with them. Obviously these don’t cure anything, and her leg still twinges periodically, but between these and the pain meds she’s on she is a lot more active. I think these braces help stabilise her leg, so she’s more steady when she walks and less likely to step wrong and hurt herself. We have a long way to go before she’s back to normal, but these braces have been a tremendous help. The only issue we have with them is that she has a hard time getting comfortable with them on when she’s lying down, so she usually only wears them to go outside or if I know she’s going to be up and about.
This product was working good for us until we noticed our guy licking at the brace, even tho it was a perfect fit the brace seemed to Chaff on the top by the seam lines and it caused a lot of blistering and scabbing on the hock. Be cautious to keep checking these if you use them
The instructions said good for arthritis. My 13 year old pug/blue heeler mix, has arthritis in her left ankle. She’s developed a knot of cartilage on the inside ankle, so this didn’t fit well over the bump. It just wasn’t secure, as it slipped down no matter how I tightened it. You can’t make it too tight though. I put the other one on her right leg, which is fine, but she kept kicking her leg back. Custom service said it wasn’t for arthritis and suggested a joint supplement, but she’s beyond that. The manufacturer says it’s good for arthritis. It isn’t.
I received yesterday 6/14/22. Easy to put on, My Pomeranian. 16 1/2 years old. Problem Pooping back legs slides out. I hold her up until she's done. As of this Morning with the braces on both legs. Pooping not a problem anymore. the Braces add Stability in Both Legs. Also gets up from laying Position with Ease. She's Now on COSEQUIN SENIOR. No Need for a VET BILL. A must Have. Excellent Product
Easy to put on and stayed on fine but minute vet saw them she said they won't help a knee problem. They are too low on the leg. Knee is much higher. After many questions I decided the surgery the best option. It is not to be taken lightly as the dog has 6 weeks down time to heal but is going to improve her quality of life immensely. Sorry but these would not help her problem at all.
My 13 year old Maltese (6lbs.) has back leg and back issues. She wears the little balloon booties since they are lightweight. They help a great deal. I just added these Braces. I wasn't sure they would be small enough for her tiny legs but they are. I am pleasantly surprised they did fit. The give her more stability. One of my vets said she liked the soft material they are made from. I highly recommend these. It is hard to find a product like this for such a tiny dog. I ordered the XS.
My 13 year old dog has been having problems with his back legs weakening. They were collapsing under him - especially on the tile, and keeping him from being able to jump up on the couch and bed, even with the help of a booster. I got these for him and they are great. When I first put them on him he just stood there and didn't move. So I opened the door to see if he wanted to go out, and he started to walk toward the door, but he was having a hard time walking with them on. It was like he was trying to shake them off. So I put the leash on him and walked him around the paved paths we have in our yard and after a couple minutes he was walking great. More like prancing around. He actually started running. He was having a great time. When we went inside he leaped through the doorway like he was excited to be able to walk and run and jump again. He ran over and jumped up on the couch, and then jumped down and ran across the room. It was so cute to see him like that. He was just so excited. They have really helped him a lot. He weighs 12 or 13 pounds and his legs measure 3 inches around. I got the small size and they fit perfectly. Thank you!
