Mussels are Great for Pups and these R the Best
The health benefits of mussels for dogs are outstanding. And if you've ever given your dog air-dried green tripe, mussels are far less yuck; and New Zealand Natural Pet manages to make treats less stinky without additives. My two pups LOVE their mussels. I first used them as incentive treats to chew their food. Once that was done, I started using them as snack toppers rather than treats. The nutritional value is so good, I simply crumble 1 on top of each bowl so they are getting a good source of glucosamine and chondroitin--they get kibble in the a.m. then a spoon of blended veggies and wild blueberries or other fruit with fish & cod oil in the afternoon as "snack." It's inexpensive and has regulated my pup with "IBS." Adding the mussels on top made it Christmas every day.
The idea is good . Freeze dried whole mussels . Great for joints on doggies and kitties. But we have a “but”. The size is on the big side and if you try to break it apart it just disintegrates into dust. Not for smaller size dogs unless they have a big mouth. Forget kitties. Did give the bag to my granddoggie who is a big black lab. He threw it up whole( only gave him one, not the whole bag ). And he has an iron stomach. I really don’t recommend it at this time. Their other treats from this company are fine and had no problems. Always on the healthy spectrum for my 4 footer babies .
Pugs don’t like
Our pugs do do not like these .. won’t eat bought two bags and it was a waste of money .. they like the brand wood and lamb and lamb and tripe but this no way ..
Puppy loves it
I have a 5 lb Maltese and this is her favorite treat. The mussel is pretty big, so I usually give her half of the mussel. Hope this helps protect her joints.
