Instructions
Activating your SpotLit for the first time: 1) Pull off cover 2) Pull yellow tab 3) Press cap firmly into place
Selecting a solid or flash mode: 1) Click once to turn on the SpotLit 2) Click once more to change to flash mode
Replacing the batteries: 1) Grab any flat edge tool 2) Pry off the cover 3) Use flat edge to push out batteries 4) Replace with 2 new CR2016 coin cell batteries 5) Press cap firmly into place

Functioned for ~4 Months
Wish this product didn't dominate the market. I used mine for about an hour everyday for four months. During that time I changed the batteries three times. After replacing them this last time, the light wouldn't stay on. When squeezed it will click and light up per normal, but only under pressure - as soon as I let go the light turns off. There is no visible damage to the light and I've readjusted the batteries multiple times to no avail. Fortunately Chewy is providing a replacement (although I suspect it similarly won't last very long). Other cons are (1) I feel like the batteries lasted a much shorter time after being changed and (2) the disco light version, which has white plastic, gets visibly dingy and does not really clean up with a Clorox wipe. On the plus side, (1) the softly changing light was very cute and (2) the carabiner is good quality. Also, it's good that it's tough to open; you want it to be tight so water has a hard time getting inside to the circuitry.
NITEIZE COLLAR
We love this product. Chewy came through for us once again! We also have the round collar that goes all the way around our dogs neck that also lights up. They both lite up in different styles as well. Whether we walk the dog at night or he is in the yard at night we can always see him! Thank you Chewy for another amazing product!
Instructions are inexcusably incomplete
As another reviewer says, the instructions are awful especially for such a simple device. When you first get it, the light will not turn on unless you open the button side of the cover and remove the little piece of cardboard (with an arrow on it) that keeps the front and back of the batteries from touching the contacts. I'll bet a lot of buyers want to return it because it "doesn't turn on." Also, I wonder how many customers miss the fact that the paper tag is folded and stapled, with instructions inside. There's a little yellow note on the outside of the tag that says "important!" but gives no clue that the tag needs to be pulled open. For the record, I'm putting in this review the battery specs, for people who don't hang on to the tag. It takes two #2016 3V batteries.
Short life expectancy
I bought one of these. i turned it on for about 45 minutes twice a week. It died after 2.5 months; I contacted Chewey and they replaced it for free. The same thing happened to the second one. I replaced batteries in both and the light still doesn't work. I wouldnt purchase again.
One Time Use
This is trash, you can't replace any battery once it's drained. I hate that so many manufacturers are making more and more products like this.. So expect to re-purchase every 5 months.
Best darn invention
I am a fospice (foster/hospice) home for old dogs, mostly with bad hips who fall down occasionally. I live on acreage with no outdoor lights except around the house. I always worried about them falling and not being able to find them easily at night. With these handy gadgets in different colors I know where each dog is! They are bright and act as a "mini flashlight" for them too! Since they take some pressure to turn on, the dogs can wear them 24/7 and I just turn them on when they go out after dark.

Essential for Walking Pets
I have bought two of these lights for my cats. When I walk my cats at night, there is no other way to find them than with the lights. We have coyotes and hawks that will kill your cat if you leave it out over night. Cats are 30% of coyotes diet, so the threat is real. I seen coyotes eating chipmunks outside my bedroom windows and the chipmunks have a horrible death accompanied with a plaintive scream. I don't want that to happen to my cats.
Difficult to open
I like this product. Works as advertised and is weather proof. However, instructions to open are vague, as it appears to show it unscrews apart. It does not, you have to pry it open with a screwdriver. Only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5
It works as expected
Love having this for visibility on my dog while we are on walks. It is very bright and the clasp seems sturdy and durable
