To activate, first remove the cap. Some use a quarter to help pry it open. Next, pull off the yellow tab from the batteries and snap the cap back on.

This light changes to all colors of the rainbow. It is really nice! Getting it open to release the tag to turn it on was a little hard to do. I used a dull knife
