If I could give this no stars, I would. Within a week of giving my 18.5lb terrier mix the recommended amount of this supplement per day she was throwing up and having bloody diarrhea by day 5. I took her to the emergency vet at 10:30pm during the work week once I saw the bloody diarrhea. After $1300 in vet fees and meds to give at home, she was still not better and continued to have the nausea and excessive diarrhea so I brought her to an urgent care on my way to work two days later. I spent another $1500 for her care there since they did imaging, more IV medication and what it came down to was the glucosamine chondroitin being the culprit since it was new to her. The vet said she will just have to be one of those dogs that will have to deal with her arthritis. The vet from the emergency hospital said that the recommended dose on the bottle was too much and should have stated the potential GI problems. When I contacted the manufacturer about everything, they basically didn’t do anything about it. Just said I’m real sorry that your dog had that reaction. I’m still extremely upset that my dog had to suffer and I had to deal with those costs all because of this supplement.
