The amount of food your dog needs will vary depending on breed, activity level, age and climate. Use our feeding chart as a guide, adjusting the quantity fed to achieve your dog’s ideal weight. We suggest feeding twice a day. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Regular exercise will help maintain a healthy body weight. Love, attention and tummy rubs should be given freely, as often as possible.
It’s important to slowly transition your pet to a new food so their system has a chance to adapt to the change. The transition period should be at minimum, ten days and could take upwards of two weeks, depending on your pet’s sensitivity to change:
Day 1 & 2: Feed 80% of your pet’s old food with 20% of the new food.
Day 3 & 4: Feed 60% of your pet’s old food with 40% of the new food.
Day 5 & 6: Feed 40% of your pet’s old food with 60% of the new food.
Day 7, 8 & 9: Feed 20% of your pet’s old food with 80% of the new food.
Day 10 & Forever: Feed 100% new food
I have 2 senior Cotons (16 & 17) and they love this. I have to moisten with hot water because they are missing some teeth. I usually add a little cabbage, carrot or apple etc. It is very nutritional...they don't really have any health issues. And of course the fast delivery by Chewy is awesome!!
I was sick of the other brand I was buying always being out of stock even in store. I decided to switch to this on a whim after trying every other brand on the market for weight management for seniors and this one hit the mark. My dogs poops have also been the most consistent in their entire 12 years of life since switching to this.
Chewy is a great service with great products. Fast home delivery, efficient, and low prices.
My lady looks forward to eating now. She very picky and when I needed a senior food for her it was a huge challenge. she now is tail wagging and exited again.
5 stars from both of my 14 year old very picky senior boys. They love the taste and appreciate the small kibble size for easy chewing. Only dry food they will eat heartily & lick their plates for every last scrap.
Our older finicky Yorkie and her poodle sister both love this food. They are eating more consistently and the potty time is much less drama.
Our pekingese will NOT touch this food. I think it's the size of the kibble - it is TINY!!
We have two older dogs (15 & 10). Both have health issues and need a lower fat kibble. Both have only a few teeth, but need some crunchiness. And both are fairly picky. They both loved this food! Each get a 1/4 cup for breaking, then a tiny bit in the soft food at dinner.
Very small kibble, great for senior dog missing several teeth, and she has managed to lose 3 of the 5 pounds the vet has recommended
My 3 picky dogs love this and the very small pieces are perfect for my senior with missing teeth. I would have rated it a 5 if it didn’t have the pea and potato her cardiologist wants her to avoid in place of grains, or if they had a version that included grains.
