Wishful thinking

I have 2 senior horses. The one that needs this supplement won't eat it.

Great Nutrition + Maintenance = Healthy Horse

I got my Amish auction pony totally undernourished and knew I’d have to start rehabbing her from the hooves up. Calxequin was the first supplement I started her on, once she had fully adjusted to getting a feed. Very honestly, the smell of the calxequin was overpowering when I first opened it, but she seemed to love it, so no complaints there! When the farrier met her for the first time, her feet were so gnarled and unhealthy that he had to cut her back in stages, because the growth was contributing to issues and swelling in her fetlocks. After three months on calxequin, and three visits from the farrier, her hooves are now incredibly strong, and supportive enough that the swelling we had originally thought might be arthritis has come way down. She responded to good nutrition and care so quickly and so well I’m absolutely thrilled. The most recent time her farrier came out he even commented on how well her feet were growing, and this was through winter! He was unaware that she was on calxequin. :)

Calxequin for improving chipped, cracked hooves

Last year I bought a new horse who had a lot of chipping and cracking on his hooves. He was barefoot behind and his feet weren’t holding up well at all. I was excited to find a hoof supplement from such a well known brand as Nutramax. I did some research online and discovered each serving of Calxequin contains the recommended amounts of many hoof supporting ingredients such as 1000 iu of vitamin E and 20 mg of biotin per serving. I started my horse on Calxequin just over 3 months ago and I’m already seeing positive results! His hooves are looking great and the chipping and cracking is now gone. The supplement was easy to feed when I mixed it with a small amount of grain. In addition to improving my horse’s hooves he’s shedding out to a beautiful summer coat! I would definitely recommend Calxequin!

My horse Sparky (23 year old Arabian gelding) had a minor toe crack and some hoof chipping recently so I thought this product might help. I checked with my equine vet before starting him on Calxquin, and she approved of the ingredients and said to give it a try. Sparky has always had what his farriers call "good feet" and goes barefoot, so I wasn't sure if I'd really see a lot of improvement with this product. I expected I'd have to wait 4- 6 months to see any changes as the new hoof grew down from the coronary band. But after only two months of use (each bag lasts one month), his feet are noticeably better - not a single crack or chip! He's now 7 weeks out from his last trim, and in the past, by this time, he'd have at least some minor chipping around the edges of his feet... but not after being on Calxquin! I'm amazed that visible results are possible this quickly. As for palatability, no problems! I just added a scoop of the Calxquin pellets to his nightly mash of soaked hay pellets and senior feed. Mr. Picky scarfed it right down. Be forewarned that the product does have an unusual smell, but Sparky wasn't fazed by it - he'll actually eat the pellets straight from my hand. I definitely recommend Calxquin - this former skeptic is a convert!

I received this product as part of Chewy's Pawsabilities program and used the pellets as directed for three full months. My horse is a palomino paint and is a very easy keeper! He loves his hay, ration balancer, and other supplements -- and It is rare to find something he won't eat (exception, bananas); however, he did not like the taste of the Calxequin pellets. I would add a little extra grain in his feed tub to be sure he ate all of the Calxequin. That aside, the pellets did seem to work as intended because my farrier trimmed a good amount of hoof during his last trim. My horse has always had good solid feet and bone (wears only front shoes); however, he is prone to throwing a shoe quite often, and I was hoping the Calxequin might help strengthen his hooves even further. These pellets certainly appeared to aid in hoof growth.

A great option for cracked hooves

Our oldest horse had a crack in one of his hooves. Although he is seen by a farrier every six weeks, the crack was slow to heal. I had faith in this trusted brand

Our oldest horse had a crack in one of his hooves. Although he is seen by a farrier every six weeks, the crack was slow to heal. I had faith in this trusted brand and started using the product a few months ago. There is much improvement. I didn't think to take a "before" photo but the "after" photo speaks for itself. The only drawback is the smell. If you have a pick eater, it might be necessary to hide it in a high value treat or food.

I love the ingredients in this supplement. I think the makers went above and beyond by adding Vit E & Selenium to it. The bag lasted me a little over a month. I would agree that I saw an overall improvement in growth and hoof hardness. My horse has soft feet and is barefoot so I think she stayed sounder on this. She had no problem eating it but I can see how a picky horse would not like it. I wish the price was a little bit more affordable.

A 3 year old Tennessee Walking Horse with cracks was put on Calexquin for two months , here in S. California. We have dry sand and rocky ground. By the second month , the new growth was showing solid . It did wonders for the health of the hooves , I would recommend it . I do suggest keeping product in tightly sealed container as moisture causes it to become clumpy and separate.

I was so excited to try this product as I have been using another hoof formula for quite some time and wanted an alternative. Unfortunately, this product smells unpleasant and my horse wanted nothing to do with it. I tried every sneaky way I could to get him to eat it and he completely refused. I liked the ingredients but wish they could do something to make it more palatable.
