An equine vet once told me, “Sometimes supplements work and sometimes they just result in expensive pee.” I had my horse on this supplement for 8 months. I initially gave it 5 stars as I believe in the manufacturer and their dog version of Cosequin has been great for my dog. However, while it may be beneficial for some horses, ultimately, for my particular horse, I don’t think it’s helpful.
My horses love these

There hasn’t been a horse I’ve given these to that won’t eat them. The first day I tested them on 9 horses and they all ate them. The pickiest of them, my Mustang only ate 2 and spit the rest of them out, but only lasted a few days. After a week, he’s gobbling them up as part of his daily supplement rations/mix and even eats them greedily from my hand if I’m feeding through the fence.
First time using the tablets!

At first, this horse acted like he was not interested in eating the tablets, but after the short delay, he ate them and has eaten them every day since. I feel like there is less potential waste with the tablets versus the powder...although this guy licks the bucket clean no matter what is in it!
Reliable product but horses don't like it
Cosequin products are excellent and we've been using supplements for our senior horse's joint health for years. I give this product 4 stars, however, because I think
Cosequin products are excellent and we've been using supplements for our senior horse's joint health for years. I give this product 4 stars, however, because I think the manufacturer exaggerates its palatability. We tested it out on 10 horses at the barn to see if any of them would take the tablets like a treat. Out of 10, only 1 horse would do so. Crushing it up in grain got better results but there was still a moderate amount left in the bin (see photo). The best way we got our horse to take the full dose was to wedge the tablet into a piece of apple or carrot. Our senior horse has digestion issues, so I tested the product for 10 weeks to evaluate its digestive effects. I have to say his manure looks really good and he had no bouts of loose manure. Also, he is a hard keeper but seems to have maintained his weight over the cold months better than usual. His joints have been fairly good, no lameness, and he only needed one injection over the winter. Overall, I'd definitely continue to use this product.
Helps to maintain joint mobility
I was looking forward to receiving the cosequin to see if it would help two of my horses and possibly maintain my 3rd. Two of my horses have joint mobility problems
I was looking forward to receiving the cosequin to see if it would help two of my horses and possibly maintain my 3rd. Two of my horses have joint mobility problems. Their ages are 16 and 18. One of them will eat about anything and he gladly took the tablet, chewed it up and wanted another. My other horse smelled it and was very interested but would not take it. My 3rd horse - that I thought this product could be good to help maintain his mobility and help prevent any future problems - was very interested in the tablet and would take it but then drop it. I would pick it up and go through the same motions. I think he was enjoying the game. I ended up giving the tablet to my one horse that likes it. I’m sure I could break it into pieces and put in feed for other two. I think their mobility problems are too advanced for this to help. Maybe it would be beneficial to maintain mobility in healthy joints.

I recently tried Cosequin ASU for my 27 year old horse. He ate the 'nuggets' in his food like any added treat. I didn't notice much difference the first few weeks, but the second month, he seemed less stiff, was moving more freely and acting more playful. We're on our third month now and he's definitely less ache and has had no digestive issues. It's great to see him in good health and good spirits and I will continue to use the Cosequin ASU. I appreciate that I can get the great Chewy service on products for my horse, as well as my cats and dogs!

Got these just in time for the, albeit brief, Texas winter to settle into my old girl's joints. I hadn't even considered something like this for her but now I'm very glad it exists. I already swear by Nutramax Cosequin for my other 4-legged senior pets, why not the pasture pets too? She'll gobble one of these up faster than an apple slice then do a jaunty little trot across the field to gossip with the neighbors
Fantastic Product
This product was used on the senior horses it seemed to help them tremendously. One particular horse was favoring his right hind leg and now it seems to be helping

Palatable and improvements seen in about 2 weeks

I have a senior (almost 30 year old) paint horse that has arthritis in his hocks and also an old knee injury. He's usually pretty stiff for the farrier so decided to give these a go. I've been using these for about 2 weeks and already I've seen a slight improvement in his ability to pick up his back left (which is usually his stiffest leg). I'm hoping with extended use I will see continued improvement. Some other observations: Taste: My horse is usually picky when it comes to powders so I was happy to see these came in a chewable format. He ate them right up so no complaints on taste. They smell sweet like molasses so I can only assume they taste like candy. He eats them as such. Ingredients: I'm happy to see not much in the way of fillers here. Packaging: Easy to open and keeps the product fresh.
Great product.
I am pleasantly surprised with this product. My mare can be kind of picky but she has been eating these daily without any issues. I did a smaller dose because she’s
I am pleasantly surprised with this product. My mare can be kind of picky but she has been eating these daily without any issues. I did a smaller dose because she’s on another joint supplement but I’ve noticed she’s moving better and better. These are tasty and easy to give. I like them over a powder because you know she’s getting all the product versus powder which can go all over with a messy eater!
