This chart should be used for guidance. The recommended initial administration period is 2 - 4 weeks. ASU stands for avocado/soybean unsaponifiables, derived from avocados and soybeans. Studies using cartilage cells have shown that it lowers the expression of several components involved in the process of cartilage breakdown in joints. ASU complements the positive effects of the glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate in Cosequin ASU, providing broad spectrum joint support for the equine athlete.
ASU acts synergistically with both glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate for additional joint support. Further, the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate plus ASU has been shown in cartilage cell studies to work better than the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate alone at inhibiting the expression of several agents involved in cartilage break down
Formulated with Avocado/Soybean Unsaponifiables (ASU), Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulfate, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), and Boswellia serrata Extract to support the equine athlete in every discipline and level of performance.
Can't say how it works yet. Horse didn't like it at first but is eating it now. It's very bitter.
I have purchased and searched for glucosamine products for my horse most of which he would not eat even if they were coated in molassis. But Cosequin pellets that are apple flavored he has no problem eating. I was impressed! I just put them in with his feed daily and they get eaten right up. What a relief. I also noticed more movement and an easier gait from him. Great product
This product tastes awful. It does NOT have any apple flavor. The ingredients are about the same as ASU+ powder but only HALF of the amount so you have to give TWICE as much. The 80 days it claims is only 40 days so it cost TWICE as much! My horse hates it. Will not touch it! I do NOT recommend this for anyone's horse.
I'm extremely happy with this product! My horse has been on it for 3 weeks now and I can already tell a difference in her movement and behavior. The loading dose was a little hefty for my mare as she is funny about what she eats, so we split it into her day and night feedings, but she is now finishing the supplement and her performance has improved. So thankful that cosequin has a pellet now- we have been waiting for this for a long time!
The Cosequin Pellets are a new item I saw in a horse magazine and Chewy had it! My gelding loves it and never misses a pellet, he's 35 years old and doing much better. Also, it's a good price and available.
I really wanted my OTTB to like it, but he would not touch it!
