When liver function is compromised, the exact cause can often be difficult to determine. Supporting the liver, regardless of the cause, is essential to keep it working properly. Administering SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine), which is found in Denamarin, has been shown to markedly increase liver levels of glutathione, an important compound for liver health formed when SAMe is metabolized. The SAMe in Denamarin has also been shown to help protect liver cells from cell death and may help cell repair and regeneration. Denamarin also helps support your pet’s liver through the administration of silybin. Silybin is an active part of an extract from milk thistle, known as silymarin, and has been shown to support liver function by helping maintain a healthy oxidative balance.
While best known for supporting the liver in dogs and cats, Denamarin also has a place in supporting brain health. Denamarin provides SAMe in a stabilized form to help with brain health and act as a neuroprotector. Denamarin also provides a bioavailable form of silybin which supports oxidative balance.

Good luck getting this into your cat
By Elise on Feb 15, 2021
Evidently the pill must be super bitter. I cannot get this into my cat. I've done everything from putting It into a little bit of canned food, although this is supposed to be on an empty stomach, both as a whole pill as well as crushed. She won't touch her food. I've even crushed it up and put it in a syringe with a little bit of water and only ended up getting scratched and my cat ends up drooling with this stuff.

Pills may be effective, but some pills not usable due to packaging or exposure
By Mango on Jan 13, 2021
Giving these 'periodically' to a large cat. 2nd box ordered. First box had 2-3 pills that were 'exposed' to air in the package possibly (small cuts in the metal coating maybe?) and when you try to pop them out they *squish*. 2nd box has 4-5 of these. They are not usable as they are gummed to the packaging and sticky. Other pills pop out easily and are solid. I am using boxes immediately on receipt so this is not because they are stored for long or mishandled. While pet has shown improvement (no negative review on the pill or effectiveness itself), these are not cheap, so disappointing that a portion cannot be used....now two orders in a row from Chewy

Pills are large for cats
By TeresaB on Jan 19, 2021
The pills are advertised for cats, but they are larger than I expected. I end up having to shove the pill down my cats throat and then hoping she doesn't gag. Luckily, the pills are bright blue so it's easy to see if she spits it out. Says that they work best on an empty stomach, but because of the drama involved in wrestling with the cat to give her a pill I end up giving her a few treats.

Good product, but should come in liquid vorm.
By ElleG on Jan 17, 2021
My vet prescribed Denamarin for my 12 year old cat with liver disease. We managed to get some of the pills in, but not without a fight, tried pill pockets, crushing it and putting it in her food. She does benefit from the pills, because after a week of giving them, she does a lot better, but liquid vorm would be much much easier!

Not the best choice for XS dogs
By NikP on Dec 11, 2020
I have a 4 lb chihuahua and these pills upset his stomach. Even splitting the pill in half still upset his stomach to the point he would not eat his dog food or boiled chicken when offered. I tired to cut into 1/4 but the pills are too small and it just breaks into pieces. I have switched to the 'chewable' pills cut into 1/4 but I still have to grind them and mix them with cheese for him to take it.

Denamarin for cats and small dogs
By Ben1 on Mar 1, 2021
Despite the blizzard of 2021, Chewy came through with my order. It was slightly late, but Chewy made it all better by doubling my order.

Not good for cat
By catlover on Nov 17, 2020
It's too big for a cat to chew. It must tastes bad for a cat too. I had to crushed it and mix it with food. He would not eat it unless I starved him. The pill does not dissolve in water easily. There is no way to give it to him in empty stomach. I managed to give 30 pills to him in 1 and a half month. It not only did not help, his liver enzymes elevated even much higher than before he took this supplement.

It's working.
By Crystal on Oct 30, 2020
My vet started my cat on this when he was diagnosed with liver disease. He was very sick and the vet wasn't sure if he'd make it, but within a week of taking, the vet could see a big improvement. Within a month, the vet released him and said that he'd see us in a year. The vet said he would have to take it for the rest of his life, but I'm happy to still have him.. he takes it fairly well with a pill pocket .
