Is this equivalent to Nutramax's Denamarin?
Answer by ChewySep 04, 2021
While other S-Adenosylmethionine and silybin products are available, there can be a significant variance in product quality and tablet strengths. Denamarin’s active ingredients individually have been shown to be safe and effective for both dogs and cats in published research studies. Denamarin contains a specific silybin shown to provide better bioavailability in dogs compared to the standardized milk thistle extract available in many other products.

Does it cause constipation
Answer by ChewyMar 18, 2022
Denosyl has been shown to be well-tolerated by both dogs and cats with a wide margin of safety. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian before starting a new supplement regiment, as well as a follow-up to check on how well your pet is being on Denosyl.

Does it have to be given before meal
Answer by ChewyOct 30, 2017
This product should be given on an empty stomach, at least one hour before mealtime, for optimal absorption.

Is this tablet chewable? If not, how is it recommended to administer it without food?
Answer by ChewyFeb 19, 2023
This is a tablet and should not be split or crumbled. Tablets should be given on an empty stomach for optimal absorption. They may be given at least two hours after a meal or one hour before a meal. It is recommended for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed passage of the tablet into the stomach.

Dog Helper

The Denosyl is a must for Muffy's liver. She was extremely overweight and we started the vet approved Dry Diet by Hills and she has lost 1/6th of her body weight and can maneuver around better.

Denosyl Works!

I just started giving my liver challenged dog Denosyl because the other name brand hasn't been available. I got my vets approval to switch. After his last check up there were no marked changes in his liver values which is great!

Recommended by internal medicine veterinarian

My cockapoo’s annual blood work indicated her ALT was 1011. Normal is below 200. My veterinarian prescribed Clavamox and Denosyl. After 3weeks her ALT is 81.

Liver supplements

My dog has been on this for several months, always got it from vet. I couldn’t believe a script wasn’t needed. I would never start my dig on anything the vet didn’t prescribe. I get it through Chewy due to cost

Good alternative....

with Herbsmith Milk Thistle for Nutramax Denamarin. I am NOT a veterinarian but I was told by one that Denosyl with Milk Thistle is a good alternative when Denamarin isn't available. My dog weighs 23 lbs and I gave her Denosyl for medium size dogs and Herbsmith Milk Thistle (225 mg) for liver support.
