Our cat really missed the canned max cat formula: this does the trick!

    By on

I was NOT sold on the single serving containers being ideal for our cat. She tends to be picky about canned food types and was obsessed with Nutro's max cat (which seems to have disappeared...). I got this one box first, and I have to say- she loves it and the portions are great for our 8 pound tortie. one con I can see is this: sometimes the foil lids are tough to pull back, i have small hands and that could be the cause, but if you have arthritis etc. it could mean you'll have to slice the top off. But worth it! We have already purchased 3 more boxes.

    Disappointed

    By on

Like many others my cats loved the nutro max cat. The cuts in gravy were the ONLY wet food my cats would eat. Not only does my one cat refuse to eat this, but it makes the other sick. In addition, I have rheumatoid arthritis and could not open the package. I ended up having to stab the package and scoop it out because with how my hands are I could not open this. I’m not sure why they changed something that was so great, but I guess I’ll have to look for a new wet food now

    Perfect for my Mylo

    By on

Honestly, everyone complaining about the package just say a lot about what kind of person they are because is meant to be that way to keep the cat food fresh. My cat prefers the salmon recipe but the chicken is just as good and I can tell because he becomes full of joy right after his meal. PS I warm up his food tray of course after the cover is removed for 7 seconds, then I like to mix it with his Nutro dry chicken food about 2 ounces and he just loves it.

    disappointing

    By on

My cat was raised on Nutro canned food. He's a big boy--he got one can in the morning and one in the evening and some crunchies or Friskies in gravy mid day. We were both happy with this arrangement. This new Nutro serving size is way too small for him. The packaging is way too difficult for me... hard to open, messy, and difficult to recycle. The tiny chunks get left in the dish instead of the larger chunks from before that were always eaten. I'm searching for something else... it won't be Nutro. Darn it!

Please bring back old version in can

    By on

It was my cats favorite. She Loved the Nutro max can food. This one not so much. Very disappointed. Serving size is rather small. The biggest thing is this formulation is different & my cat doesn’t like it nearly as well. I hope that you will bring the old version back

    It's Not Good

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I expected her to like this one because she enjoyed Nutro in the past. It's a small serving (which is a good thing for my cat). It's a light-colored gravy. However, the meat doesn't look like real meat. It's minced, so who can tell what it really is? I know my cat won't touch it at all. It's disappointing.

Hmm they seem to like this...

    By on

So far my kitties are giving this four paws up. I won’t go it five paws until I serve it longer. I do like the portions though, nice and neat plus not as wasteful. The meal is tiny. It’s in gravy and both turkey and chicken have been equally received. Great hopes for this product!

    Kitties are happy, I'm happy

    By on

Was looking for a new wet food since I found out that Royal Canin changed their formula so chicken was no longer first ingredient. Which is fine, if you want cheaper cat food, but they also did not lower the price. So I was pretty annoyed. It took a while for picky cats to switch, but we transitioned. Kitties are happy; I'm happy. The smaller portions are a bonus.

    MaxCat was better

    By on

My cats both tolerate this well enough currently, but the portions are smaller, more expensive than the old MaxCat line, which my cats loved above all else. At first when I attempted a switchover to this, the cats refused. They've been several months in starvation mode because they would eat ONLY MaxCat (which Nutro discontinued). I stopped attempting this food for about a month and then re-introduced it, and I guess it's finally enough like MaxCat in their memories that they're willing to tolerate it. Poultry seems best tolerated, they occasionally vomit the tuna and the beef (Well, one does, the other refuses them altogether). These are also very difficult to open and messy compared My cats both tolerate this well enough currently, but the portions are smaller, more expensive than the old MaxCat line, which my cats loved above all else. But....it's literally the only food they WILL eat, and I'm not going to let my cats die because catfood goes squirting everywhere all over my hands. Too bad my recycling only takes metal cans, too. They won't take these plastic tubs, so there's a lot more waste associated with these smaller portioned (but still using lots of plastic) containers. They could re-shape the plastic so that there is less of it holding the same amount of food, but I guess it's a customer psychology thing. Connected together as it is, it LOOKS bigger. In some ways I'm glad my cats are seniors, both nearing 20. If food prices keep going up for smaller and smaller portions of worse quality, then in about 3 years, I won't be able to afford to have a pet. I don't think they're going to be able to live much longer on this anyway. I found a stray can of Max Cat in the cabinet the other day, they both wolfed it down within seconds, and kept it down. They were more active and happy than I've seen them in months. Makes me sad. I feel like I'm abusing my pets because the company discontinued literally the only food that they could eat and tolerate. … more

    Merlin and Dad thumbs down

Horrible product. Nutro has lost their way. Almost impossible to open product. Skimpy portions that will make you laugh. My black tomcat won't touch it. Once burnt twice shy. My mistake but never again.
