NUTRO always recommend using a transition period when introducing any new wet or dry food to your dog or cat. Mix 25% of the new food in with 75% of the current food. Over a 5-10 day period, gradually increase the amount of new food in the mixture until it's the only thing in the bowl.
In our efforts to continuously improve digestion for your pets, we optimized fiber levels in our formulas by using more whole ingredients like chickpeas and reducing others like beet pulp to improve on our guarantee of small, firm stool.
We felt that since all the ingredients in each of our recipes are wholesome and essential to the benefits of the recipe, it was unnecessary to call it out on just 1 of our lineups.
Yes. Our Limited Ingredient Diets are designed to help minimize food sensitivities by limiting the type of ingredients used to those not commonly associated with food sensitivities. There will still only be 1 novel animal protein in each pack - lamb and lamb meal. The Venison Meal, Whole Brown Rice & Oatmeal Recipe and Fish, Whole Brown Rice & Potato Recipe will also remain as Limited Ingredient Diet with only 1 novel animal protein source. Although some formulas have additional carbohydrate sources (e.g. chickpea and split pea), we are still limiting the type of ingredients to those that are not commonly associated with food sensitivities (i.e. we still do not have wheat or corn).
Yes, all dog formulas except the Lite Weight Loss products will still have a complete satisfaction or your money back guarantee to provide healthy skin and a soft, shiny coat.
Chickpeas have an excellent balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fiber. Thus our formula can provide carbohydrates, protein, and fiber from a single, whole ingredient rather than fractionated ingredients that are high in only 1 nutrient.
Flaxseed is used as a source of fiber, protein, and healthy oils. The soluble and insoluble fibers in flaxseed help us achieve better digestive health and stool quality in our formulas. Additionally, it contributes healthy oils, including omega - 3 and omega - 6 fatty acids, like linoleic acid, which help fulfill essential nutrient requirements and promote skin and coat health.
Alfalfa meal is used as a source of fiber in our High Protein Grain Free Recipes. The soluble and insoluble fibers in alfalfa meal help us achieve better digestive health and stool quality in our formulas. Additionally, alfalfa meal is used in Large Breed Weight Management and Lite Weight Loss products as a fiber source and to help minimize the caloric content.
Yes. We have increased essential nutrients in our wet dog formulas so that feeding guidelines can be tailored to the energy needs of inactive dogs while still providing optimal nutrition and meeting essential nutrient requirements.
We believe that natural pet food is healthier, safer and tastier.
No, our foods are naturally preserved with vitamin E. We never use chemicals like BHA, BHT, ethoxyquin, propyl gallate or sodium hexametaphosphate in NUTRO™ Natural Dog Food or Cat Food.

We test every shipment of grains for mycotoxins before we unload it to ensure it is safe. We carefully test every finished product batch to confirm microbiological safety, nutritional compliance and shelf stability before we ship it. The Nutro Company was recently the first company to receive the AFIA Facility Safety seal, which is a third - party pet - food - safety certification.
I adopted a rescue Westie and this is the food the foster was feeding her. My dog loves it and I will continue to feed this to her. My only complaint is that it is very pricey.
I have a VERY picky 8 year old yorkie. I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old and I’ve always fed him Royal Canin dry food and wet food. So he’s gotten used to having both. Well in the past few months the Royal Canin wet food for yorkies has been impossible to find and out of stock everywhere. So I went on the hunt to find a wet replacement that he would eat. I’ve literally spent about $100 trying out new foods. He didn’t like any of them. A friend of mine recommended Nutro so I decided to give it a shot. And low and behold he actually devoured it! I was so relieved! Highly recommend for picky eaters.
had to substitute this for my regular soft food. angel liked it all the same.
I have been feeding my dog Nutro treats for the last year and a half and I love them and so does he! I had every intention of buying him Nutro Kibble until I started looking through all the food options they offer and came across this! Is Nutro seriously putting TOMATOES in their dog food??? Tomatoes are toxic to dogs! Yes, they are most toxic when green and unripe but even ripe they should only be given sparingly every so often. Not in a food you will be feeding your dog DAILY! I am very disappointed in a company I had so much faith in. I am unsure if I will still be buying their treats after this discovery.
I have two small breed dogs. The day I fed them this particular flavor of Nutro Ultra they both had major diarrhea and were sick all day. One of my dogs was so ill he had to go to the vet. I think it was probably the tomatoes in this food, because they usually eat the Nutro Ultra brand with no bad side effects.
I mix this will the dry nutro chicken food. My dogs love it!
I have been baying this food all the time, for some reason lately quality want down Whole case of 24 value $42.96 of a bad dog food, I had to throw away
The dogs like this dinner and it is acceptable as a kidney diet additive.
I can't say if i like it Both Dogs Like it...cost enough....Dogs eat better then me....
my 2 fur babies, Joey and Lola, love their Ultra!!!! Thank you, Chewy !!!!
