former stray cat’s first scratching post

Blackberry is my first cat, and he is about 1yo 7lb (for size reference). He was a stray, so spending more time inside now, we needed to give him an outlet to scratch on that wasn’t the furniture. He’s actually been very respectful when we say to stop scratching the couch, and he’s never had a scratching post, so I did put catnip on the post to get him interested initially. Now that I feel like he knows it’s his and that he can go to town on it, he’s really enjoying it! The base has a good weight to it so it feels very sturdy once you put it together. It was *very* easy to assemble. So easy that if we had to travel it would be very simple to take apart to transport and put back together. Our cat Boji barely let me get this put together (which thankfully only takes 5 min), she wanted at it! She has been scratching ever since. It’s absolutely perfect - great heights, sturdy and well put together. Winner!

My cats were scratching on the corner of my wall, so i put the scratching post next to the corner. They haven't scratched my wall since. It's tall enough so they can stretch out while scratching the post. It's nice and heavy, doesn't tip over.
