Osurnia is formulated for dogs to help treat otitis externa—an infection of the ear canal better known as swimmer’s ears in humans. While there are many causes for otitis externa in dogs, Osurnia is designed to help your pal feel better. It applies like a liquid and stays like a gel, which penetrates deep. It's built to coat and adhere to the entire ear canal, increasing contact time at the infection site. Osurnia even works with your canine companion’s natural ear cleaning process and is gradually removed over time.
UsesFor the treatment of otitis externa in pets associated with susceptible strains of bacteria and yeast.
Possible Side EffectsPlease contact your veterinarian if the following adverse reactions occur: vomiting, increased liver enzymes or transient loss of hearing.
Drug & Food InteractionsTalk to your veterinarian about any other drugs the pet is taking before starting this medication.

Do not clean the ear canal for 45 days after the initial administration to allow contact of the gel with the ear canal. Cleaning the ear may affect product effectiveness. If alternative otic therapies are required, it is recommended to clean the ear(s) before application. Open tube by twisting the soft tip. Insert the flexible tip into the affected external ear canal(s) and squeeze entire tube contents into the external ear canal(s). After application, gently massage the base of the ear to allow the gel to penetrate to the lower part of the ear canal.

What causes otitis externa in dogs?
Otitis externa is inflammation of the outer ear. Sometimes otitis externa in dogs is caused by allergies. In other cases, otitis externa can be the result of bacteria and/or yeast in the ear. Ear mites, growing hair, trapped water or a foreign body inside the ear can all influence how likely a dog is to get otitis externa. Frequent bathing, swimming and incorrect cleaning methods can also contribute to the infection.
The signs to look for include:
- Foul-smelling ears
- Ear scratching and/or head shaking
- Discharge from the ear
- Crusted or scabby skin under the ear flap
- Swelling or redness around the ear
- Reluctance to have head touched

Vet Recommend, Dog approved!
By Lightning on Aug 22, 2019 Top 50 Contributor
Our vet first applied this to our dog, Coal's ears after he had been on an antibiotic for two weeks. He had been scratching his ears and whimpering everytime anybody touched them. Coal's outward symptoms subsided right away and was noticeably more comfortable almost immediately, especially at night. We opted to reapply this to both ears a few weeks later. We adore our vet however, Chewy.com is fabulous!

Osurnia Otic Hel
By Helen on Mar 20, 2019
My dogs has had chronic ear problems for over 2 years. I have tried so many ear antibiotics treatments. I was about to give up after a year and half of visiting the vet. So far the first time osurnia to be working no discharge is coming out of the ear on the second round of the gel. Suppose to wait 45 days to see if this treatment has worked. So it’s a waiting game right now however their has been no discharge since I started my dog on this antibiotic. I am praying that this will work.

Thankyou so much!
By Lucy on Jan 4, 2019
Came iced and ready to use. Only thing I'd change was that I wish they sent directions with the meds because I had to come back on the site to double check what to do.
