My cat has had toys like this for years and he's very fixated on the butterflies even by themselves. These are identical but they aren't directly removable, you would have to break them. IN CASE someone bought this for the same reason I did. The toy is still fun for him when used as intended.

No assembly required! Only 2 AAA batteries for hours of fun! I have a kitten, an adult cat, and a senior cat that equally enjoy this! If you’re looking for a fairly low cost toy to give your cat some new entertainment (and a little exercise), this is the toy! It is not a silent toy as there is a consistent droning sound as the butterfly spins around but it’s worth it for the playtime in the cats’ day.

My boy cat is a big fan of crinkle balls and wire cat toys. Specifically ones with bug like things on the end that you can’t really see the string attached. His favorite toy was a bug and mouse wire teaser toy they don’t make or sell anymore. While this toy won’t replace that one because he may get bored of it on its own he enjoys it so far. Immediately before even getting the batteries into it. He likes the materials and he will destroy the butterflies. So it will be nice to get some more of those to replace when the time comes

Serenity really truly enjoys this toy. She loves it. She hunts and attacks her prey. Serenity is 6 years old. The toy is kinda loud and the butterflies really go around super fast. I do wish there was different speed levels to it, as my older 11 year old domestic short hair cat Pearl is scared of it and will not engage with this toy at all.
