Not proportioned correctly for dog size/weight
By LoveACT on Jan 16, 2021
I got this for my 10.5 lb Chihuahua-Terrier mix so he could take a break on longer walks/hikes. I bought the Medium-sized bag because the description said that is could hold dogs up to 20 lbs. My dog barely fit in this, so I can't imagine any larger/heavier dog fitting in this at all. Also, I can't imagine carrying a 20 lb. dog in this because of the way the thin straps are set up. I would think this would put too much weight on someone's shoulders/low back. My dog really disliked going in this because it was so snug on him (his bum squished against one of the sides uncomfortably). Once I had the backpack on, I couldn't put him in it on my own. Design flaw
By Hiker on Jan 17, 2021
Overall I like this product but i think it has a design flaw in the shoulder straps. If you cross them in the back as the design intends, the cross creeps up to the back of the wearers neck and all the pressure is on the back of your neck. If you do not crisscross them in the back the straps fall off your shoulders. I had to improvise and put a strap in the back between the two shoulder straps, not crisscrossing shoulder straps and that way the weight you carry is balanced and not all on your neck.

Disappointed
By Chuck on Jan 14, 2021
I purchased this carrier with the intention of taking my pup for a bike ride. After adjusting the fit several times and trying to proceed, my dog kept leaning forward and I had to hold him up and back to return home. This medium size does not work for my 15 pound pooch. The support straps would probably work better if they were attached to the front of the "basket".

Know your pet
By ArchiesMom on Jan 5, 2021
I read the reviews carefully. I'm very glad I bought the small. Yes, it is too small for a 5 lbs dog to lay down in comfort. But my chihuahua doesn't want to lay down. He wants to stay alert and watch everything that is going on. If it were any larger, it would be difficult to hang out with his front paws resting on the rim of the pack. Before I bought this one, I had bought a larger bag from another company that was nice and roomy. He hated it.

poor quality control
By Nikki on Dec 16, 2020
Overall, I think this is a nice carrier. However, like many other reviewers, the bungee came loose on one side the first time I pulled on it because it was completely unsecured. Upon closer inspection, the piping that houses the bungee as well as the end of the bungee itself are not stitched into place on that side. In the picture you can see the unsecured piping. Given that so many customers have this problem, Outward Hound really needs to examine their quality control for this issue.

Pretty cute
By Kris on Jan 13, 2021
I bought this for my chihuahua. He is about 12 lbs. He fit ok in it but he definitely won't be able to lay down. I wish the padding on the straps went all the way around. It would be a lot more comfortable. The padding stops right at the shoulder. So the parts on the back and underneath your arm are not padded.

Very small
By Stacy on Dec 31, 2020
I will be returning this. I ordered the medium. My boy only weighs 10 pounds but it is not deep enough and he just can't settle in. I have a back pack that I wear on my front that he loves and settles in because it is deep but it wasn't made for that and is uncomfortable for me. The medium will comfortably hold a very small dog. Made okay but just not deep enough.

Love it ~ Great for small pets
By Tcmac on Nov 30, 2020
Use it for my Chorkie puppies (9 weeks) and they love it (one in each). My daughter loves the attention too. Everyone adores the pups but many compliment the carrier. Have to stuff it with blankets since they are so little but years ago I used a similar carrier for a prior dog and she loved it. She got to sit close to me and be safe but could also see (and smell) the world. Eventually she walked with a leash but toy size dogs are too small for a leash until at least a year old. Actually I used it for my prior pup for about 2 yrs or so when we went to crowded places. Plus it’s easy to go into shops (not restaurants or grocery store). It’s comfortable to wear and pooch is safely secured.

Seabass luvs it
By PuppyLuv on Jan 11, 2021
I really like having my pup close to me, where I can keep an eye on him. He loves hanging with me and loves to get in his little PoochPouch to travel along! I had to put a foam wedge in the bottom of it so he wouldn't slide out..The medium was purr fit for my 5.5lb Yorkie.

Perfect for Chihuahua
By ChiMom on Dec 12, 2020
I ordered a medium and it fit my 9lb chihuahua fine. There is definitely enough width, I'm even able to add her blanket to the side of her. I do wish it was a little deeper but overall very happy. She normally uses a stroller because of her heart condition but when we take walks without pavement, the backpack is a perfect option. She doesn't curl up, she always stands and likes to see what is going on, so the hard bottom was perfect. She feels secure in it and loves being right next to me. It is very easy to pull her out and let her walk for awhile and then pull her back in when she is tired. I am 5'4 and 120 lbs and it fits me good. I was really confused on what backpack to get since there is so many options but after much research I definitely think this one is a good choice, especially at the price. … more
