What is the actual height for the cage?

The Oxbow Multi-Level Habitat is 24 inches wide x 24 inches deep x 38 inches tall. The whole habitat overall is 53 1/2 inches tall with the stand.

Is the pan made of plastic? How about the guard?

The pan of the Multi-Level Small Animal Habitat is made out of the same metal as the rest of the habitat. It is not plastic.

What is the bar spacing width?

The bar spacing on the Elife- Multi-level Habitat is 1/2" wide.

Can this cage be used without using the stand? Will the pull out pan still come out if it's not used on the stand?

This habitat was not designed to be used without the stand and the pull-out pan would not function as intended if the stand was not used. It would not be recommended using this habitat if not fully assembled.

Good for a few years

This cage was tricky to assemble at first but once assembled have had no issues for my chin. I particularly liked that the cage is metal and not plastic, so no chin-proofing

This cage was tricky to assemble at first but once assembled have had no issues for my chin. I particularly liked that the cage is metal and not plastic, so no chin-proofing required. However, I will say that after 2.5 years the metal pan that pulls out has completely rusted from urine & cleaning the urine with vinegar/water solution (probably too acidic against the metal). Regardless, I need a new cage now but that is probably user error. I definitely think this is a great cage for Chins!

The habitat was hard to assemble but we got it done with two people. Initially, it looked great before using it for a small animal but it is very cramped after you add items with the ramp. The door could be bigger and makes it difficult to add items. We constantly have to measure. The top causes animals to have to lean down because they can't raise their head all the way. This is unfortunate since our girl is frequently at the top (to reach us better). I highly recommend getting a ferret nation instead. We liked the idea of the flooring down at the bottom of this and has been the best part of the habitat. If we had to do it over we would have gotten the ferret nation instead even though it doesn't have the same flooring.

Not meant for chinchillas

Loud when chinchilla jumps, doesnt keep things in, and WAY too small for a chinchilla, and too expensive, critter/ferret nation is much better for your chin.

Great Rat Home

Overall this is a great cage! Larger than I was expecting/envisioning and overall great design. You really need to read the instructions and follow them closely

Overall this is a great cage! Larger than I was expecting/envisioning and overall great design. You really need to read the instructions and follow them closely. There were a few of our pieces that seemed to be bent but we were able to get them to work/bend them as needed. I love that the bottom pan is metal like the rest of the cage and not plastic. We were able to end plenty of enrichment for our rats. I think this cage is going to be perfect for our two days.

First off putting this cage together had a few frustrations. The side guards don’t match up on one corner. The measurements online are bit confusing as far as height

First off putting this cage together had a few frustrations. The side guards don’t match up on one corner. The measurements online are bit confusing as far as height on the stand. The cage is not attached to the stand, this is a huge issue for me. I have dogs and a toddler. I see this being an accident waiting to happen of getting knocked over. Its just not right for what I was hoping for. I love oxbow products, they need to consider making a few modifications on this. The stand not connecting is the biggest issue causing me to return this.

The cage is well made in terms of materials, and I like the solid ramps and shelves to be easy on the feet, and the storage at the bottom! The cage design needs to be re-worked, though. It's too tall, so the cage and shelves is a bit too skinny to add a lot of enrichment items. The doors are only at the front of the cage, and a bit small, so it's hard to access the back and corners for cleaning.
