Does not hold up over time

By Rhianna on Mar 7, 2021

I bought two of these for my guinea pigs, and I thought they seemed great at first. I liked that they match the Midwest guinea habitat perfectly. They worked great for a month or two, and then my guinea pigs decided they liked to sit on top of them and jump on them, rather than lay under them. When the piggies started doing this, the hides began collapsing from the weight and wouldn’t really stand up on their own anymore. The hides became soiled from the pigs spending time on top of the hides and peeing on them, so I washed them. I did not put them in the dryer, only the washer. After they dried naturally, one of the hides was coming apart in several places and went into the garbage. I put the second hide back in the cage and tried to form it nicely so it would stand upright again, but nope- it was completely flat within a day or two and is also breaking apart. For the price of these hides, it is just not worth buying. Buy something that will last longer than a month or two. … more

    Too Floppy

By Speed on Apr 9, 2021

From the moment I got this, the house drooped down by the entrance and nothing I did kept it up. I have large g-pigs and they didn't really like hiding in it neither. Lastly, they chewed the first rope apart from the others in the door in a week.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    By GuineaDad619 on Jan 12, 2021

I like the product in general, its sturdiness is just fine. It's quality fabric. It seems sturdy enough to definitely get a handful of use and wash cycles out of it. As an experienced owner of guinea pigs I would've recommended this item as soon as I got my hands on it without even testing it, but as soon as I got home from work I noticed a very strong smell coming from the box. When I opened the box the smell of pine sol was very overwhelming. Guinea pigs are very very sensitive to strong smells and can even become deathly sick from over powering odors such as urine. Has anyone else opened their package to find this product having an overwhelming scent of pine sol?

    Fits my cat

By Lexi on Feb 9, 2021

If you're wondering if medium is big enough.. wonder no more. My cat fits her whole body in it easily. I got it for my rats but if she really wants it...

    Quality material, not very stiff

By tamale on Nov 6, 2020

The hideout looks exactly like the picture and has very thick, quality material. It's exactly what I was looking for and this is the only place I could find one. I got it for my guinea pig and he loves it. It's the perfect size. The only issue I have with it is that my guinea pig tried to jump on top and it collapsed. That wouldn't be a huge problem except from that point on, it collapsed all the time. Now it just lays on its side and he sits in it like that.

    Measurements are quite off

By Memyselfandi on Sep 4, 2020

Bought the large when it was finally back in stock - should be 14” in diameter as website size is listed at 14x14 (not including height as not relevant). Well, actually measurement is between 12-12.25” in diameter (as not a perfect circle you see so 1 measurement was 12 & the other was 12.25. That’s almost a whole 2” missin!!! That’s a lot when you needed that full 14” to possibly fit a Californian. Quality seems great, but do not buy based on Cherry’s listed measurements as quite off and won’t work if you have a large breed bun. Won’t work...

    Not stable

By Wafflehouse on Oct 27, 2020

This hideout is flimsy and doesn't stand up well. The problem is with the opening...the base has a very thin band of woven fabric and doesn't hold up well. My rabbit has jumped on top and it won't support his 2 lbs.

    Nice Size for Chinchillas

By Ahappycatnanny on Jul 31, 2020

This is a nice size, all 3 of my chins can fit if they really want to. They jump on it off their ledges a lot and move it around a bit. I wish it was just slightly more stiff, or at least right in the entrance hole which is a little flimsy and sometimes sags, but it’s not too bad. So far after a few days it doesn’t seem like they are interested in chewing it which is nice.

    Excellent and huge

By Casper on Aug 4, 2020

I was happily surprised when I saw how big this hide was, both of my guinea pigs could fit happily in there. It is sturdy seems like it would last a long time. I would recommend the largest size for 2 guinea pigs, a rabbit, or chinchilla. Very happy with this purchase & worth the prize!
