Chick starter? - better as supplement

I've been raising chickens a long time, and was pleased to see a chick starter offered by this brand. When I received it however, I was a little puzzled as honestly

I've been raising chickens a long time, and was pleased to see a chick starter offered by this brand. When I received it however, I was a little puzzled as honestly this appeared to be mostly hulls and flakes and had a LOT of pieces that were very large. I would absolutely not feed pieces this size to tiny babies. Happily I had also ordered another bag of starter from a reputable brand that was much more appropriate appearing as a total feed (S****** & P*ck if curious) though still those pieces were a little large. What I chose to do was combine the two feeds 50/50 and run them through my spare coffee grinder that I use to process herbs. I was able to knock it down to a consistency that they can actually eat and that I was comfortable feeding them. It's important to understand that even one larger piece of corn/grain etc can kill a baby that is unable to digest it so please use your discretion with whatever feed you choose to buy and be sure to offer chick grit in addition to the feed. One thing I was very pleased with was the vitamin content and herbal supplements thus the 3 stars, I like to start my chicks off strong and supplement their water with S**-a-C*** probiotics and a splash of acv. After 10 days all my girls are healthy and happy so thought I'd leave my comments here for anyone truly interested in feed integrity.
