I bought this mostly for the many levels of vibration. I have a medium/large dog who is very stubborn. I figured that out of 16 levels, one would be strong enough to deter her from doing something she's not supposed to do. For whatever reason, level 1 is the same as level 16. I don't understand why! I would think level 1 would be a tiny vibration whereas level 16 would be a hefty buzz. Nope, they are the same. I don't understand the point of having levels. Unfortunately level 16 isn't strong enough to stop my dog from doing something. Pretty useless collar for us.
NOT for our stubborn pup!
Purchased this in hopes that a little "vibration" rather than shock would be just the thing to grab the attention of our 2 year old valley bulldog. She cannot comprehend "come", "stay" or even acknowledge her name when she's distracted. When the door opens and we go off leash she's great until her doggy adhd kicks into high gear (squirrel). The very first use of this collar was great results! BUT the next time she saw her distraction, that had her attention more than the sound or the vibration. Luckily we were able to get our hands on her before she took off. Back to the leash we went. The sound on this collar did absolutely nothing to her... it's just a beeping noise - one tone, you can hold down the button on remote to make it a continuous beep or beep it as you need to. We ordered the electronic shock collar by the same company. After much thought, we feel we need to try this route rather than continue to do the things that clearly haven't worked... it's not worth it to take a chance of something happening to our girl. (Waiting for delivery)
PatPet remote training color
This collar it great for training my Keeshond Archie he just turned a year old last week and I have been using the collar for a few weeks now and it has made a big difference in Archie behavior. I do recommend this product.
We were glad to find a collar with no shock option, as we didn't want to accidentally activate something that would hurt our dog. I've found you have to press the remote button a couple times - once for it to "wake up" and a second time to activate the vibration. Out of the 99 settings we are only on 7 and it's plenty to make our dod stop short when he's in the middle of barking. He hasn't stopped the barking habit yet, but here's hoping....
Very easy to use and pet friendly
This is just what I needed. It is very gentle on your pet.It is definitely not a shock collar. It is a gentle vibration or a sound that is easy to the ear.
Stopped my dog from running off
My 17-month old dog is a hunter-adventurer. And she is not food-motivated. Those two things have made it difficult to train her to come when she doesn't feel like ending her current adventure just yet. This device, which so far I have only had to use at level 2 of 16 vibration levels, is motivating her to come when called. I love it!
This thing works
I have a high energy German Shepherd mix. Most of the time he's a good boy, but when he gets distracted by something, like a cat or a deer, he completely ignores me. I got the PatPet collar because it does not have the shock option. I don't want to shock my dog even though many trainers say it's not painful. The first time I put this on my dog, I used the tone feature. He slowed down for a second, then took off after a rabbit. I used the vibrate feature on setting 2 and he stopped in his tracks and ran back to me. I couldn't believe it. Now I only have to "beep" him and he stops what he's doing and comes right back. I have only had the collar on him a few times, but it really does work to get his attention. I have a 90 pound dog that goes 90 mph hour when he sees something and this collar stops him with a simple beep.
I bought this product to speed up training and it's worked beautifully! My puppy has quickly learned after only a few beeps and vibrations at a very low level to not forget her "manners" when greeting other people. I wish I bought this sooner!
No technical issues yet, works well for all but one habit
My 1.5 year old GSD responds well to both the tone and the vibration, even on low settings. I mostly use it for his reactivity toward our cats and passing cars. Also use it for correction when playing too rough, general bad behaviors such Herding us and the other dog (always paired with redirection. He does have a herding ball and lots of toys), not backing off when given signals by other dogs, etc. However, if he is barking out the car window at another dog, it doesn't phase him on the highest setting, and he's a sensitive dog so it should. I think it's because of his thick main though. It should work on a smooth coated dog, and it works on him even with his thick coat, for the most part. Overall I would recommend using this product. Charge holds for a good week or two, and my dog responds to it well. It doesn't hurt, but it does tickle a lot. Very mild negative reinforcement. It causes no pain, just harmless discomfort
I bought this for my reactive dog after watching several balanced dog training videos from a canine educator on YouTube. Unfortunately treats just don’t distract him enough and trying to avoid ever seeing the neighbor in the next yard or else dealing with my dog going insane just isn’t practical. One correction with the vibration collar worked wonders!! I was able to correct him once and then have a conversation with my neighbor with my dog right there and he just sat and watched. It’s like having a reset button for his brain. I never would have thought this was the missing link I needed for his training but he was so much better with just one use that I hardly believed it. If you have a reactive dog and think you’ll only ever be able to walk him at 2am and you can never even get a package delivered without your dog making a giant fuss, look into balanced dog training and find what works best for your pup. I’m confident that with this collar I can communicate better with my dog, whether he’s on leash or off!
