Mine was defective
I was very impressed with all 4 and 5-star reviews for this item, so I didn't hesitate to buy it for my overeating Boxer puppy. Unfortunately, I must have received a defective item because mine would never operate as intended. Let me preface that I am technology savvy and work in the computer world. I followed the instructions, which were easy enough to understand. I set the feeder to 4/10 of 1 cup for each feeding, 4x per day. I tested the portion size, per the owner's manual, by pressing the manual feed button. One push I'd get 13oz, which I measured with a measuring cup, and the next I'd get 1oz. Press it again and it'd overfill the bowl, then again and I'd get 3 kibbles. I let the unit run by the timer and no food was dispensed, but the next time it flowed into the floor. I factory reset the device 3x and to no avail. Customer service was easy to work with, which is why we love Chewy and refunded me very quickly. Sadly, the unit went to the trash because my puppy would either be obese or starve to death if I relied on this to feed him daily.
Just what we needed
It took us a couple of tries to get the quality right but now it's working great. The perfect solution to going away for a long weekend without worrying that our greedy cat will eat everything we put out for him on the first day and starve the other two. Item is sturdy and stable so he can't break into it either.
Automatic Feeder
This is exactly what I was hoping for. Our dog is overweight and needs more reliable amounts and more time eating than our once-a-day routine. When he was eating once a day, he would get hungry and start digging in trashcans and out in the garden looking for snacks. We also love the audio recording feature that allows us to "call him to dinner".

This portion measurement system feeder works great. I had a feeder that supposedly weighed the food amount and never fed the same. This one does. Every time. Right on time, also. Easy set up. Just read the instructions. Me and Border Collie like it. D size backup batteries too. Lots of backup power that way.
Using for a cat
I am impressed with this feeder. It comes with everything but the food and batteries. It comes with the cord and the brick to plug in. That’s something that is t always included anymore. You can put batteries in as a back up incase the power goes out which I like. I have been taking a lot of trips to check on my mom who is sick. So this something I needed to take care of my cat. This way I can leave her home alone and daughter doesn’t have to check on her everyday. It even comes with a way to record your voice to talk to the pet. I wasn’t expecting that. I like that the bowl is stainless steel and easy to remove and clean. Now if they can only come with a way to dispense wet food I would be all set. I have only had this a couple of days and I am already in love with it. I love the brand patpet
Great feeder but Set up is horrible
This feeder works flawlessly to dispense the food. That I love! However, the set up is terrible. Setting the current time, feeding time, and portion size is horrible! The instructions aren’t very clear in spots and you are instructed to push incorrect buttons.
Excellent feeding device
I was worried it would be too small for larger dogs, but the bow is actually larger than other similar products. Have large breed dog that adapted very quick. You can set up time, how many times a day and amount of food. You can also leave a voice message, but I haven't tested that. Built quality is very good. I like the fact it has back up batteries in case of outage.
My cats love it!
This feeder is great! I have 3 cats and I was having to refill their food dish constantly. I like that I won’t have to refill so often and that I can easily tell when this feeder needs to be refilled. I can even make sure they have food at night. I also like that you can customize the amount of food that is dispensed and when. I’m very happy with this purchase!
Heaven sent
This food dispenser truly saved our life. We have a beautiful 65 pounds Bluenose Pitbull that eats 3 times a day. It's hard to be taking care of his meals because we all work long hours. We just fill it up and he gets his meals served on time, fresh, measured and with our voice recorded calling him... so cute!
Easy feeder
This automatic dog feeder is exactly what I've been looking for. I work long hours and always worry about the dogs getting fed. Now, I just set it to dinner time and its automatically dispensed for the amount I want them to have.
