I'm not referring to my dog but rather to myself. I just can't stand the idea of clipping nails. Totally gives me the creeps. My groomer unexpectedly shut down. She used to charge me $15 to grind nails so when I called my vet to get my dog's nails trimmed I nearly fainted when I was told it would be $30! Another groomer I called wanted $25. For the same price as one nail trim, I could buy the nail grinder and do it myself without fearing the clippers! It works like a dream for both me and my dog. It is quiet and gentle. He tolerates it well and I'm able to keep his nails nice and neat. Best $25 I ever spent. Thanks!!
As received, the PatPet nail trimmer seems to have impressive build quality and is very quiet. I've used a Dremel on our dogs before, and unfortunately, their open design twice got tangled in the fur of their paws. The design of the PatPet should eliminate the potential for that happening again. The only question I have is whether PatPet now offers a replacement nail grinding wheel. I don't need one yet, but may in the future. Past web site postings indicate a replacement grinding wheel is not available from Chewy, and that you must contact the manufacturer. Those web sites also indicated PatPet does not yet offer replacement grinding wheels. I also do not see one offered on their web site. The instructions state that the grinding wheel is "replaceable"--but is the replacement part available? A similar product under the name of LuckyTail does offer a replacement grinder head. Would that grinder head be compatible with the PatPet grinder?
The best grinder I've owned!
It was so quiet and the vibration was very little compared to others I've used. The grinder did not slow down when pressed against the nail and was easy to use. The two speeds are so good to have! My dog who is always scared of nail trimming, snaps and shakes, did very well. She still shook but laid down and gave me kisses here and there. One snapped a few times when I was getting the hang of it. Her nails are black, thick, curvy and huge! I got her nails trimmed in about 20 minutes, and that was with them overgrown and super long. Definitely recommend this grinder!
Way Better than I was expecting
So I have that nail grinder before that has a cheapo and bulky two-speed grinder and it is REALLY LOUD and all of my dogs HATED it. It broke in 6 months and I want to invest in a better product. And this Nail grinder lived to what it has advertised it is So Quiet, very well made look and compact. My Pitbull still hated it but not coz of the noise anymore she just doesn't like the vibration on her feet and it tickles her which is normal.. nothing a treat and a good job cheer cannot do to make her happy again (^_^). My Pug though! He LOVES IT. He falls asleep while I grind his nails and I love how it's so compact and smaller than the bulky cheap made that I had. And what's nice is I got this on a deal! If you are investing in a good nail grinder. This product wouldn't disappoint :)
So happy to have this wonderful grinder.
I am so pleased with this grinder. No more using the scissor nail clippers on my cat's nails, that often end up being jaggedly cut, no matter how many new scissor clippers I buy. Using this PATPET, my cat actually sat in my lap as I grinded down her nails on her back paws. I used the low speed with the top black part on, and the low humming noise it makes actually relaxed her as I safely and smoothly grinded her nail. She loved it. I then removed the black top part to get all around her nails on her upper paws, but she wasn't happy about that, so I will leave the black top part on when I use the grinder in the future. It was a happier nail cutting experience for both of us. I highly recommend this grinder. It's made grooming my cat's nails so much easier and my biteless arms thank the PATPET makers.
Pet nail grinder
Just a few days into using the grinder and it’s great! Several hours of charging and we were good to go. The guard prevents mistakes and injuries, or at the very least, makes them a lot easier to avoid. The top of the grinder is most aggressive, while the grinder’s sides serve to smooth out the sharp, freshly-ground edges. Two speeds allow for an adult dog’s claws (slower), while the faster speed accommodates smaller pups and their finer claws. All in all, very helpful for anxious or wiggling pets and avoiding a costly mistake with clippers.
Best gadget ever!
This nail grinder is wonderful!! It’s very quiet and gets the job done quickly. There is no harsh noise or vibration to make your pet anxious or wear out your hand. We have a very docile dog and she even napped while we did her back paws. Not so much with the front ones but it was still way easier than using an emery board like we were in the past. I know it won’t work on every dog because some dogs just won’t let you come near them with anything foreign, but for the calm, relaxed dog in your life this will work like a dream!
Loving It For Life
This is the best mail cutter that I have ever purchased. We have 6 fur babies arranging in all sizes and ages. We were able to cut all of their nails. Usually we have a hard time cutting their nails, because their paws are so sensitive. With the Nail Grinder, it’s quick and very quiet. I highly recommend it. If I could give it 10 Starts I would!!!!
No replacement parts
Didn't realize items like this would even be sold without replacement grinders available... Chewy does not sell replacement grinder pieces for this and can't find anywhere else online that does. I've used once on my 60lb dog and already see the wear and tear on the grinder piece, this is not going to last long. What a waste to have to toss this in the trash once it is dull.
Great for pets
I'm so happy that I purchased this nail grinder. I've been anticipating taking my dogs to the groomers to clip their nails but I thought I just do it myself. I saw many people recommend this so I thought I'd give it a try. It works great and fast, my dogs didn't give me too much trouble. It does make a sound as you start grinding the nails so that might freak out your dog and if you use this on a dog with long or curly hair be careful because it can get caught in the nail grinder.
