Questions & Answers

3 Customer Questions

Is the wood stainable?

Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2025
This house is constructed from fir wood and is coated with a water-based paint finish. While this finish offers some protection from the elements, it may limit the ability of the wood to absorb additional stain unless it is sanded down first. You can try lightly sanding the surface to remove the existing finish. This will help the stain penetrate the wood more effectively. Please also make sure to use animal-safe, non-toxic products if the coop will remain in use during or shortly after staining.

How long does it take for one person to assemble the house?

Answer by ChewyApr 04, 2025
For this product, it typically takes about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for one person to assemble, depending on familiarity with similar projects and tool familiarity. The structure is designed for easy setup, and all necessary hardware and instructions are included

For how many ducks is this duck house intended?

Answer by ChewyJan 20, 2026
This house is intended to house 1 to 3 ducks comfortably, depending on the size and breed of the ducks. It is best suited for small to medium-sized ducks and is designed to be used as a shelter or resting house, rather than a large roaming enclosure. For the comfort and well-being of your ducks, we recommend allowing adequate outdoor space in addition to the duck house, especially if housing more than one duck.

Perfect little house for a small flock

My four girls are comfy in this house. The wood could be a bit sturdier, but it is just fine for a first duck house. I modified to add locks to keep out predators

Perfect for what we needed right now

Perfect space for two ducks. And my oldest daughter painted it to look like a little cottage house, so that was a nice little extra thing with this duck house, that it’s customizable in that sense. Love that it opens from the top, makes clean up easy.
