Construction is fairly solid with screws and quarter turn fasteners, but the instructions were a little hard to follow in some places. I ended up having to take it half apart and put it back together again because I made a mistake with the sliding doors. The clear bits are plexiglass and the rest is wood. If you want to use this with hamsters, which is what they say it’s for, I think it’s probably great. If you want to use it for something else, be aware of a few weird things. First, there are finger holes to open the sliding doors. The holes are 1/2” diameter, which is big enough that a mouse or small snake could easily escape through them. We covered the holes with stickers, but haven’t used those sections yet, so I’m not sure how well that will work. The vent slats on the sides are 3/8”, so those are fine unless you have very tiny critters. Second, the hatch lid for the top compartments is closed with a sliding chain like a door security lock. A larger animal like a rat or a strong snake could push this open and escape. It seems pointless for mice and hamsters, who can’t push it open, so why they chose that particular closure I have no idea Overall we are happy with it, just a few tweaks and it works perfect for our mice.

Looked good

Cage was functional and looked good; however, the hamster chewed through the side where the air slits are. They could also slide the plastic doors open and escape
