About how many hens would fit?

Answer by ChewyApr 27, 2023
This hutch can accommodate approximately 4-5 chickens.

Would this work for ducks?

Answer by ChewyApr 26, 2023
This enclosure has not been designed or tested for use with ducks.

How many square feet is it? How many quail could fit in it.

Answer by ChewyMay 15, 2023
The house measures roughly 4.4 square feet and the run measures roughly 13.3 square feet. The general rule of thumb is to allow 1 square foot per quail in any enclosure. Keep in mind this is the minimum amount of space to provide for your quail, and they would undoubtedly appreciate much more than that. Also, keep in mind that quail come in many different shapes and sizes depending upon the breed you select. The larger the quail, the more space they will need in their pen, and as always, the more, the better. That being said, this enclosure may be appropriate for 2-4 quail.

How many chickens can this hold?

Answer by ChewyMar 31, 2023
This coop holds 2-4 chickens depending on size.

I have two of these hutches, one is about a year and a half old, the other I've had about 6 months. While the roof was a PITA to put together the first time, the second one went much smoother. The hutches are holding up fine under a covered canopy, with the exception of the metal trays. We just pulled the hutches out to scrub them, the trays are pretty much rusted out and one has a big hole. Easy fix though. I'm happy with these hutches, we have/have had 6 other ones, and these have held up as well as anything else in this price range. Contrary to one of the reviews my rabbits have not eaten them up yet. A little ivory soap rubbed on the edges solves that issue.

The biggest problem with that it came without instructions. Several of the holes were off and so we had to figure out kind of how to make it. Work hours is put together and works okay but I definitely wouldn’t recommend buying it and I certainly wouldn’t buy another. I did manage to find instructions on another website, but they were just pictures instead of actual instructions. I’m not sure how long it’s going to stand up. Feels a tiny bit flimsy to me but it’s fine for now.

We had a lot of trouble getting things to match up. One or more screw holes weren’t drilled so it made putting what’s supposed to be prefab together. The roof was an absolute nightmare to put together. If you do buy, put together where you plan on keeping it indefinitely. We had to move it about 5 feet and it compromised the integrity of the coop yard, even from that short of a move. I am considering sending it back, because we haven’t trusted using it for any of the chickens we originally bought it for. Also, I think it could hold up to 3 hens if and only if you let them free range during the daytime or maybe up to 2 rabbits. Rabbits would definitely dig out of the bottom unless you lined the ground with wire mesh, rabbits also love to chew the wood and would probably eat half of the cage within a week or two.

I got this as a rush grow out. On Sale. No more than 4 birds. Juvenile/Bantams only. Wood quality / hardware is 3 season at best, ventilation negligible. If you have time to mods for airflow and waterproofing and place in larger secure run. Doors and trays difficult to close with shavings spill.Nesting box hinge leaks on rainy days. Wrestle with roof first w/2 sets of hands and patience. Keep moving to a minimum.

Please, please, please do Not Purchase this!!! If I could give it a negative infinity I would. Horrible design... impossible to put the roof on properly unless you're an octopus, roosting bars break, leaks, won't latch properly, bedding gets stuck in cracks, poor ventilation, starts to fall apart almost immediately!!! I will never buy a PawHut product again. And Chewy, you need to discontinue carrying this coop because it's a sub-par product.
