How big is the wheel with this? Is it possible to put in one that is bigger

Answer by ChewyDec 11, 2025
The wheel measures 6.25 inches in diameter. It is not possible to replace it with a larger one in this model, as the structure is designed specifically for the included wheel.

Could be better constructed for the price

I’m glad I got this for my Syrian ham. He needed an upgrade. This does give him ample room. It was easy enough to put together however, some of the picture instructions

I’m glad I got this for my Syrian ham. He needed an upgrade. This does give him ample room. It was easy enough to put together however, some of the picture instructions are confusing because you can’t really tell which way some of the pieces fit in. The actual construction of the individual pieces was not the best. Nothing was properly squared out so some of the parts don’t sit properly with each other. There is also only one latch door. There was no way to lock the door at the top. My hamster loves to climb so this worried me quite a bit. We went out and got an old fashioned chain lock to secure it. This isn’t the worst cage especially with the floor space it offers but be fully prepared to have to make adjustments to the cage itself. I also did not screw down the wheel as suggested so I was able to move it around to see where Dennis likes it best, the wheel is bigger than most standard wheels that come with cages so his back isn’t arching as he runs, my Ham loves this wheel and I do too because it’s near silent. I also recommend taking the protective plastic wrap off the ‘window’ before assembly.
