I love this feeder! In fact I have two. It runs on batteries or USB or the wall plug. Lots of great options for areas prone to power outages. I have not tried the recording feature. It holds a lot of food and dispenses a reliable and programmable amount! My only issue is that it cannot be deep cleaned. The Inner part comes out but needs to be unscrewed to clean it thoroughly. The inside can't be washed because the electronics are attached to parts that touch food. I had to clean the bottom of the inside with rubbing alcohol and q tips tonight after trying to take it apart and finding it isn't possible. I still recommend this food dispenser just be aware there are food surfaces that can't go in the sink for a scrub.
This works perfectly to give my cats several smaller meals throughout the day while I’m at work and on days when I am out late! I had to switch to the small portion feeder, and even then still have the volume set very low, but there is a lot of flexibility between portion sizing. I could see how the machine may be too light for a dog that may try to knock it over, but even for my two very smart cats, there have been no break-ins so far
Ordered two of these - one for my dog, one for my cat. Both of them have had multiple instances where they randomly reset their timer and do not feed my pets causing them to miss meals. Do not purchase this if you are looking for peace of mind that your pets will be fed.
These things are amazing!! I bought three, two cats and a dog, they used to constantly try to steal each other's food but the these allow you to record a custom message. I have them all set up, in different sections of the house, calling each pet by name so they know exactly whose is whose and peace has been restored! Lol Also, I set them all to distribute food 10 minutes before my alarm so the first greeting to them in the morning isn't them yelling for food, but cuddles! The only thing is the dish is kind of on the small side. For cats and small dogs it's perfect, but I have a Great Pyrenees whose needs a little more. My solution is more frequent smaller meals for him and he's still a happy camper.
For almost two years, this worked just fine. But eventually, the clock will start slowing down, and then it will just stop. Looking at the other reviews this sounds pretty typical. But for an automatic feeder with a timer, it's a pretty good price, so if you have to replace it every couple of years, not a bad deal?
Works well. My cat comes running when she hears the recording. The food is measured out in exact amounts. Up to four feedings with different serving amounts.
I purchased two of these in 2020 when we got a second cat. Our first kitty was free fed for twelve years without any issues but our new addition created the need for scheduled feeding times. The little one tried to break into these many times without success and then became used to scheduled timing and quit trying to break it open. My only complaint is that they don’t keep time well and the clocks need to be reset about once a month to get the two feeders back in line. Not by any means the worst problem, especially after three years of use. This was a great investment for our little furry family and I would recommend this feeder!
Since this feeder isn’t airtight it eventually attracts roaches. Do not bother with this feeder if you do not want to tent your house just to get rid of a roach infestation.
I purchased this feeder a few months ago and within a short period of time, he's figured out that if he kicks the feeder a couple pieces of kibble will fall out. Also if the feeder tips over there will be food EVERYWHERE the top does not secure well so now I have to tape the lid down. Also theres no way to turn off the voice recording that plays for meal time. And good luck getting the portion size correct, that took my a while and with the use of a kitchen scale. This was supposed to be my big helper but has become more of just a headache. I'm still thinking about going back to his regular elevated bowls, if I can't figure out a way for chance to not constantly tip the feeder over. Oh and if you move the feeder always remember to flip the SWITCH to OFF otherwise you'll have kibble EVERYWHERE!!! Since the time purchased this, I've been finding dog food everywhere. The machine has either tipped over and spilled everything everywhere. Not happy. Sorry for the long rant review LoL.
We love it, the cats love it. We put it on a little platform to make it a bit higher from the ground, (more cat friendly) but it’s great. The flat eating tray prevents whisker fatigue and the device is easy to use.
