Carlton loves this toy! As soon as I turned it on, he went into “pounce mode”, watching from a distance until he was ready to attack! I didn’t realize there was more than one mode until his paw hit the button and turned it to a new one. In the first mode, the fuzzy toy pops in and out of holes around the base. In the second mode, the butterfly attachment on top flutters. Carlton prefers the fluttering butterfly mode, but both are equally enjoyable. I like the fact that this toy is both battery operated or chargeable, and it has an automatic shut off if it hasn’t been used for a certain amount of time. Overall, the toy is well worth it!

The plus: The cats have fun especially with the butterfly flying around. They continuously play for about 15 minutes. I like that it will stop with no play and start up again when they play with it again. Its nice they included a screwdriver for the screw holding the battery cover. The negatives- The 4 batteries wear out very quickly. I tested the batteries to make sure they were fully charged. The USB Cable is not long enough so you have to keep the toy close to a USB power outlet. The button to turn it on works erratically. Sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesn't. Pressing it for 3 seconds does not always work. Pressing it twice sometimes works. The butterfly and feather functions do not work according to the instructions. You have to keep hitting the button randomly and see what turns on. There should be an easier way to replace the batteries especially since they wear out so soon. You have to take off the bottom and unscrew the tiny screw which you need to be careful to not lose. However I find you don't really need the screw. If it wasn't for the button malfunctioning and the batteries wearing out quickly this would be a great toy for the cats. FYI I tried to add photos below but the page would not allow me to click on #2 below to add pictures.

While this toy caught my cat's interest and got him playing independently, it ended up being very dangerous for him. I turned it on and let him investigate, it only took a few minutes for him to warm up to it and I let him play while I puttered around, tidying up. However, after a few minutes, I heard a ruckus and caught him and the toy zooming around the dining room, banging into the furniture. I grabbed to discover his little toe bean and extended claw had been caught and stuck in one of the little holes along the center ridge of the toy. It took much coaxing and a lot of distress to remove it, as it was very painful and turning purple, I didn't know what to do if I couldn't remove it. If I pulled one way, his claw would get yanked, the other way his toe pad would get squeezed. It was very scary and stressful for both of us. Now, my cat IS a ginger, so your "normal cat" may not be as accident prone, but it seems to me the small holes may lead to a problem and should be redesigned. I won't let him play with it unattended, which kind of defeats the purpose of an electronic toy such as this.

This concept is great but wished it functioned pro

I was excited to receive this but I believe the one I received was defective. It is supposed to do three things, butterfly is supposed to go around in a circle

I was excited to receive this but I believe the one I received was defective. It is supposed to do three things, butterfly is supposed to go around in a circle and jiggle. It jiggles but doesn’t go around in a circle. The second thing it does is a feather pokes in and out of the unit and it does do this. The third thing is it is supposed to have butterfly moving in a circle while the feather pokes in and out and it doesn’t do this. It only allows the feather to come in and out. The second and third press of the activation button do the exact same thing. I am disappointed that it doesn’t function properly.

My cats really like this toy. It runs on batteries or with usb. I do wish it was rechargeable. If cat stops playing with it for 5 minutes it will shut down but

My cats really like this toy. It runs on batteries or with usb. I do wish it was rechargeable. If cat stops playing with it for 5 minutes it will shut down but turns back on again as soon as they touch it unless it has been over 2 hours. Seems to be made well and my cats are enjoying it.

It's a brilliant toy -- between the twirling butterfly and little feathers that poke out of holes -- it captures a cat's attention. My 3 cats adored it. Construction

It's a brilliant toy -- between the twirling butterfly and little feathers that poke out of holes -- it captures a cat's attention. My 3 cats adored it. Construction wise, it is sturdy. Electronically, it lasted less than 2 weeks. It has charger and takes batteries. After charging it and replacing the batteries, the butterfly doesn't swirl, and the little feathers don't poke out of the holes anymore. It looks brand new ... but has really poor electronics/circuitry.

I love this product, not as much as my cat, but the only reason I can't give this product a 5 star is because I have to change the batteries every single week. It's probably because of how often my cat plays with it. But if getting this toy, I'd recommend rechargable batteries.
