I've been involved in animal rescue for many years and we've always fed the dogs Pedigree because it's an affordable option and a decent quality food. We'd mix a smaller amount of the wet with the dry and the dogs loved it. Recently, someone I know adopted a dog who was otherwise going to be euthanized for NO other reason except for capacity issues, so she didn't hesitate to take a beautiful, perfectly healthy dog the minute Animal Control was there to pick him up from a complete stranger's home! She doesn't have much money as she currently is unable to work due to her health...but she has a big heart, so I bought a big bag Pedigree and some wet food to get her started. Since I help a lot of rescues the affordability and trust in Pedigree allows me to help even more animals. I'd rather help TWO dogs by feeding them Pedigree...which is a good, decent brand. vs. buying one bag of $80 food and helping only one! I gave her the idea of heating the food in the microwave for 15 seconds (with 1/4 can of wet food mixed with the dry) and the dog thinks he's eating a "home cooked meal." :) LOVE plus a decent dog food is a a recipe for a healthy dog. You don't HAVE to buy the most expensive food for it to work for your dog. Chewy is a wonderful company offering so many options, but I do not hesitate to recommend Pedigree.
