Very nice small filter for betta tank
I know betta's can exist in a bowl, but when there are great filter options like this out there why should they not have air bubbles to play with? It also helped

Always a fan of a Penn-Plax air pump, so that was definitely a score with this. Super quiet and powerful. The problems are all with the filter pieces. The air stone
Always a fan of a Penn-Plax air pump, so that was definitely a score with this. Super quiet and powerful. The problems are all with the filter pieces. The air stone is too big for it to sit flat. Currently waiting on a tiny one so I can actually use it since it won't work as well if not flat to the surface. The break-away piece for smaller spaces breaks too easily. I used super glue to put it back on twice and may do a third so it doesn't just fall through when I put the substrate on it. The air tube is really hard to get through the hole. I chewed on it to make it soft so I could push it through (I've seen aquatics shop people do this, so it's a legit technique). This is what caused the second base break. The cartridge is nearly impossible to find, so either stock up when you do or figure a way to deconstruct and refill, though you don't have to run a cartridge with an under gravel filter. A lot of the pieces are fragile and developed small cracks when put together

As an emergency set up, this kept my sick betta alive in the quarantine bowl I had. It didn't fit the bottom of my bowl tho despite making it as small as I could

Had to jimmyrig it to stay safely in place. Never keep fish in bowls permanently but as a temp holding/emergency sick bay, this works.

I have a 2 gallon Anchor Hocking Glass Fishbowl that I have kept my pet fancy goldfish named Flip in for almost 6 years now. This thru-the-gravel bottom filter works great at keeping his water clean, clear & healthy, and it also has an easy to replace carbon filter. It's aeration bubbler is very gentle yet does a great job! Flip has never gotten sick, ot even a case of ick...nothing! I recommend this bowl filter to everyone. p.s. Goldfish do just fine in a bowl...they like to be placed somewhere where they can watch you. Flip has a big personality & is almost like a puppy dog. His bowl is placed in our kitchen & he watches our comings & goings all day long.
