Capacity - I really liked the capacity of his pet food feeder. I tested it with the dogs, because I need to feed the cat in a totally separate area so the dogs don’t eat her food. Set up - Set up was not difficult if you follow the directions. I wouldn’t say the set up is next necessarily innate but if you follow the directions, the directions are accurate. It is easy to set the time. And you set up to six feedings. If you don’t understand military time I don’t know what to tell you except to look it up— most of the world uses a 24 hour clock Recording - Super simple to do a recording, but it freaks my animals out. After a couple days one dog got used to it and she got the treats. Cleaning - I only used a damp cloth to wipe out the inside and let it dry. It seemed like the machine did absorb some of the dog food odor, but the dog food is fish flavored. The dish however, is stainless steel and very easy to wash. You can clean the dish and even put that in the dishwasher. Nuggets and portions - I use a standard dry dog food, which is slightly larger than our cat food. It consistently dispensed 1/4 of a cup of food, and you can set it for up to six times a day. This is where the product went from five stars to four stars because I could not figure out how to adjust the amount of food coming out. I will say it worked perfectly every time, plan the recording and dispensing a quarter cup of dry food. Definitely more suitable for a cat unless you only have one small dog. My small dog eats 1/2 cup of dry food twice a day, so I could set it up to dispense two times, just one minute apart. I free feed the cat so I’m not sure how much she really eats. A big bonus to this is the battery back up. It did require a few larger batteries, but I do not have to worry about a power outage if I was relying on this to feed the cat. It is also pretty compact I could not smell the food when I walked by.
