I had a metal feeder and the birds didn't care much for it. It also had a dish on the bottom for the birds and that was awful. When it rained, water accumulated and the thistle got wet and moldy quickly. I thought I would try this one because it's inexpensive and it did not disappoint. It has six feeding ports and honestly, I like that it's not huge as thistle seems to be prone to going bad if it gets wet. The hard part is cleaning this. The ports are soft rubber and get soiled pretty quickly. I haven't figured out of the bottom comes off, I don't think so. Overall, this style of feeder works best for me and this one has well designed openings and no water collecting dish.
This finch feeder has a plastic hanger which dislodges in fifteen minutes when a squirrel jumped on it, I then put a wire hanger on it , the ports then 20 minutes as they were bitten through a d enlarged which then all of the seed to spill out constantly . Not a product that should be sold unless inside a steel cage . Frustrated
I was excited to find a finch feeder like this one! The birds found it fairly quickly and were able to get the food easily. However, the hook part broke within a week of us hanging it up. Maybe it was just a bit too windy, but the plastic should be tough enough to handle outdoor weather conditions.
I really wanted a metal mesh/screen finch feeder, but I can't justify spending over $30 on one. Purchased this online and it arrived quickly (one thing that Chewy does WELL)! I also ordered the nyjer seed to fill it with. The very next day I already had finches eating from it! I was previously using those white finch socks but they get so disgusting after a season of use. I'm hoping this will last longer and it will certainly be easier to clean.
All my little finch just love this feeder. Only one problem. They can empty it in one day! They devoured a 10 pound of feed in less than 3 days.
I bought this to attract finches. Two of the ports were also chewed on by squirrels and not it won’t hold seeds. Lasted a day.
This is a great goldfinch feeder. Larger than I expected and high quality. Took the finches a few days to figure it out after only having a nyjer sock, but now they flock and must wait their turn when there are more than 6, which is ok since they also enjoy eating the sunflower seeds. It is bright and cheerful and keeps the nyjer dry, but I added a little diy rain guard to keep the birdies dry. The perches are the perfect length for small birds, which goldfinches are.
I had this feeder up for about two weeks before the finches finally came,I bought some finch mix food from chewy, now all the goldfinches finally love it,a good feeder but it was about a week or longer for the small birds to feed from it,also very good quality and well made
Birds love it so much they are fighting over it. Great to watch.
I just started feeding goldfinches and only had the little prefilled sock. Well I had too many finches for the sock and wanted something a little bigger that allowed them to perch and eat for longer. I noticed some didn't like clinging to the sock to eat for long and only 3 would be on the sock at any time. Can't wait to see 6 of them on this feeder
