I love the looks of the feeder, and so do the local hummingbirds, but it's supposed to fill the bottom with gravity (from the glass jar), but for some reason it won't do this on its own. Air can't break the water surface tension to allow more liquid to fall into the base. I've tried filing out the base, making bigger holes, not screwing the base on tightly, everything I can think of. The local birds empty the bottom quickly, but I need to tilt it daily to get them access to more food. This means it has to be easily accessible to me, which makes it more accessible to cats. Super pretty, but I would not purchase again.
Bottle is beautiful but top of base rusts within 2 weeks of use. I bought 6 total waste of money but at least they were on sale so don’t feel as bad. Im looking for base replacements to see if i can keep the pretty glass bottles
this a very nice glass feeder that looks great in a garden seeting
The right size and the beautiful red keep the bee and wasp away.
Extremely easy to clean and fill and hummers appear to love it!!
I love these feeders! Not only are they a great red color that attracts the birds...but they are glass and so easy to clean! Don't buy plastic feeders that are hard to clean and attract mold...instead buy these Vintage looking feeders from Chewy! Fast shipping as well...love Chewy!
I received the feeder this morning. It was washed, filled and hung out over the deck. The hummingbirds found it right away, and the feeder has been busy all day. Our weather is still quite cool and windy, so the little hummers are hungry. The feeder has good heavy glass and a nicely fitting dispensing part. I appreciate the fact that it easily stands on its top for filling and that the opening on the glass container is generous enough to fill without a funnel.
Red hummingbird feeder the birds drink out of the darker glass feeders, they won’t touch the lighter colored ones. This is a bottom water dispenser, which I loose water if refilling, I can’t always at a distance see how much sugared water is in the container. Glad to have the glass containers to hang. It’s so nice to have the birds around. Greatful Chewy had varieties. The lighter rose colored glass may have to be dyed to see if birds will engage. They pull up to the lighter one and back off, oddly enuf and go to the darker jars.
