The feeding ports have sturdy metal perches that allow birds to feed comfortably but, when the squirrels perch on them, their weight causes the entire metal casing to slip down, completely blocking the feeding ports and their access to the seed. The interior seed tower is surrounded by rustic metalwork and boasts a two-pound seed capacity.

The best thing to do is to stop feeding the birds temporarily. Remove the feeders and throw out all of the seed. Thoroughly wash your feeders. Remove all debris from under your feeder. Do not touch the sick birds. Refill all of your feeders and resume feeding.
You will need to sterilize your seed to prevent it from germinating. This will not alter the attractiveness or the nutritional value of the seed in any way. Here are two methods:Conventional Oven: Place the seed on a baking sheet and cook for 30 minutes at 300°F.Microwave Oven: Place seed in a paper bag. Cook on high power for 5 minutes.
Mold is caused by a heavy rain, driving sleet or snow plugging the feeding ports and allowing water to dampen the seed. Always clean, dry and refill your feeders after heavy weather. You may also want to try placing 1/4" of cat litter in the bottom of the feeder to absorb excess moisture.

We loved the design of our old feeders, however the plastic was thin and broke when we cleaned them. These now have the best of the old design plus more robust plastic and the bottom removes easier for better cleaning. I drilled tiny drainage holes in the metal bottom to encourage better drainage of melting snow or rain. Love the new top because they're easier to fill and reduces the springs. Much better design!!
This thing didn't even last 2 weeks. The squirrels jumped on it and managed to bust the plastic so the bottom fell out. I am very disappointed in a product that is so easily broken. At such a high cost, you would think the construction would be better. There is nothing but thin plastic holding the bottom piece on.
The top is loose and the wire perches are too far from the seeds. Birds can’t reach the food. I bought one a few years ago from you and was very happy with it. This looked like the same item, but the quality isn’t close.
terrible feeder...has broken three times for us...we won't be purchasing this feeder again...and also it's NOT squirrel free.... ours swings from it...
