Does it have any kind of bee guard?

Answer by ChewyMar 23, 2021
The nectar ports of this feeder have built in bee guards.

How do you fill it from the top without the liquid leaking out until you seal the top and create a partial vacuum ? Does this design guard against bees?

Answer by ChewyDec 27, 2020
This unique feeder features patented Top-Fill technology so that filling is never a hassle. Simply remove the lid and pour up to 22-ounces of nectar into the convenient wide-mouth opening to get your feeder up and running – there’s no need to invert the bottle. This feeder is made with a gasket in the base that creates a nice tight seal so there are no leaks. The feeding ports are not bee-proof.

Is the entire base plastic or is it partially or completely metal?

Answer by ChewyMay 01, 2023
The base of this feeder is plastic.

I would like complete cleaning instructions. I already broke a perch off.

Answer by ChewyMay 11, 2021
This feeder may be soaked in warm, soapy water and gently cleaned with a foam brush.

This might be Chewy's recommended product. I'm guessing it is because there is a large quantity of this product sitting in the warehouse. They are not using the Perky-Pet feeder. They simply land on it to eat the teaspoon of jelly it holds and the orange. I have to refill the jelly multiple times per day, if I happen to be home. They have not touched the nectar. The orioles continue use my other feeder that is so old it is no longer orange in color. I will be returning this product and all the nectar I purchased.

We are confused

I had hummingbird feeders and hummingbirds, and one year orioles showed up. They landed on the hummingbird feeders, tilting and swinging them, and causing the nectar to spill out. So I got this oriole feeder, and waited. In over a year, not one oriole (of three different species) has touched it. They continue spilling the hummingbird feeders. I put out orange slices, hoping to entice them, but no takers. Occasionally a hummingbird will sit on this feeder - while waiting for a turn at the humming bird feeders. I can't see anything wrong with the feeder. It should work. Mine didn't leak, and it wasn't that hard to clean. Are my orioles stupid? Are they troublemakers? What is going on here? One more fill, and then off to the thrift store....

Not made for orioles

Orioles cannot reach the nectar in this feeder, neither can hummingbirds because it’s so far down into the reservoir

I got this feeder because of the top fill for the nectar - I have had orioles come in before and not had a feeder and then they were gone. Hoping with this feeder

I thought this feeder had everything I needed to feed our orioles. Unfortunately the birds acted as if they were unable to feed from the ports even though they were bigger than the hummingbird feeder that they were used to. The perches do not stay in place. Each time a bird would land or depart the perch would swing out of place. And because the jelly cup sits at an angle I could only put in a teaspoon at a time. Last straw - there is no way to clean the base inside. I thought the bottom popped off but it didn't pop or screw back on. This item went into the trash.

I filled the feeder a week or so ago, and was confused when it looked empty the next night. I've been putting oranges out (which the orioles in my yard love), and started putting out jelly (which they also love). I've had a hummingbird or two attracted to the feeder, which has been great - but I learned after refilling it today that the nectar added literally streams out the bottom. A few minutes after putting the feeder out with brand new nectar, it's gone. I'm not happy, and will be looking for another type of feeder.
