I have a old pug and puppy basset hound. Didn't want to ruin there body's jumping up/off on the couch. Works very well just took treats to train. The steps still are a lil high with a slant. So I wouldn't recommend with a very short dog or a dog that has a hard time walking. It doesn't slide around but can be easy be picked up and moved.
Great for my BIG cat
on Apr 27, 2021
I bought this because my big cat (20 pounds) was getting older and finding it harder to jump to his favorite places. This step system met my needs because it didn't skid on our hardwood floors, and the steps were wide enough so that he could climb easily step by step. Teaching him to use it was easy -- I just put a cat treat on each tread, and within a day he "got it." We adopt a succession of cats, always older ones who really need homes, and I like the fact that this system easily disassembles for storage, so during the times when we don't have a cat needing a boost, we can tuck it away until it's needs again.
Pet Gear Steps

My little girls refused to use the steps. I put doggie treats on the steps to encourage them but they went around the side and got the treats without going on the steps. I encouraged them by starting them up the stairs to no avail. Both my girls are rescue dogs and had been caged their entire lives as breeder females. I think that the cages/kennels may have been plastic so the plastic is too scary. I donated the steps and the large aluminum bowls to Royce Hurst Animal Rescue in Grand Jct Colorado to be given to someone in need.

My 9 year old shih tzu has been having some issues with her "knee" but still insisted on being on the bed with me every night. Being her stubborn little self she would take a flying leap off of the bed in the morning before I could lift her off. I was very surprised that after just a few training sessions using treats to entice her, she now uses the steps! I like that the platform for each step is wider than a normal step, which I believe is why she is so comfortable using them.
uses them every day

They are the perfect size for my dog to get on and off the couch. However they were a little tricky to get together, the posts just did NOT want to snap into place. He is a tiny Yorkie so the carpet squares were hard for him to reach and he did not like his nails scraping on the plastic. We just put a towel on each step and he uses them fine now.
Prefect for My Gilr

These steps are perfect my aging Bloodhound. She loves to sleep on her Big Girl Bed (our spare bed), but she just can’t jump up like she used to and they are great for her coming down, because she won’t jump down anymore now that she has the steps. So less chance of an injury. It’s funny but she knows to take it slow! They are the perfect color for the room they are in and are clean and simple. There is rug on each step for traction. So glad I took a chance in these!
Not ideal for this dachshund
on Mar 18, 2021
I was hoping to give my 15-year-old standard dachshund an easier way to get up on the couch. He can climb these steps but it takes a lot of scrambling.
The long body and short leg combo probably means he would be more suited to a ramp or several smaller steps. I think the rise is too high and the slanted steps weird him out a little.
Overall the steps seem to be sturdy and good quality for the price; they were easy to put together and don’t slip on my laminate floors. And my cats enjoy the carpet and bonus hiding place underneath :)

We got these stairs after adopting an elder Chihuahua that was too small to jump onto the couch on her own. She quickly learned what they were for and uses them with confidence. They are sturdy and I see then lasting for a good long time. We're actually about to order a 2nd set for our bed.
Nice wide steps
on Apr 8, 2021
Steps are definitely worth the money, nice wide steps for our dog to climb safely.
Gave four stars only because the directions were completely inaccurate. Everything was labeled incorrectly which made it more confusing than it should have been. Set it up with common sense, not directions.
Stairs deserve 5 stars.
