Abrasive Will Rub The Skin Off of Your Hands
This ramp works as advertised. Rests on bumper nicely and Max has no problems going up or down once he got used to the new routine. One MAJOR negative is that because of the sandpaper top of the ramp, if you’re not careful, it’ll rub the skin on your hand that touches it off while opening or closing. I had to buy gloves to alleviate that problem. I find it hard to believe that Chewy/manufacturer doesn’t offer this in the rubber or carpet covering. For some reason, uploading a photo of my hand is not working so I can’t provide the small burn on my hand where some skin rubbed off.
Saves their hips and my back!
Ramp is great for getting dogs in/out of trunk, I have a Durango which is pretty high from the ground and the ramp is long enough to reach the ground without them being on a real steep incline. It’s taking a bit of getting used to for them but lots of treats help! It helps immensely with me not putting my back out trying to lift them! The reason I only gave 3 stars is that the ramp is quite tricky to open up, it folds into 3 which is understandable for the length, but I think it could do with having some type of handles on the sides for you to grip onto while trying to get it unfolded. Also, the surface is very rough (again understandable, you don’t want them to slip!) so make sure you put something over it, if it resting behind/on your car seats, it will scuff the leather.
Not for me...
Although the ramp is well made, it is very heavy and awkward. I'm a small person, so perhaps it will be fine for a larger, stronger person. I felt like it folded the "wrong way" to be practical. I am unable to use it, so I will probably give it away.
It works for Luger
It fits my needs of my German shepherd but it needs to me better constructed because it is bowing in middle.
Used opened package
I have not opened yet but it said when a company sends you an obviously used product but charged full price. I am crossing my fingers that the product is in better shape than the poorly re-tapped torn box.
My sweet pit bull was to the stage he couldn’t jump in my Jeep or step on a platform. While on a trip with him I ordered the ramp and received it the next day. He hesitates about going up but runs down the ramp. It has saved both our backs.
Ginger loves it!
Ginger was part of a pack of bassets before becoming a "house" dog. She had done little traveling in a vehicle and came and went from her kennel whenever she chose to do so. Coming into the house meant steps and riding in our Jeep. Steps, sectional couch, Jeep all meant lifting her. She used the ramp first just flat on the floor. She then went up one step with it to the kitchen, a couple steps to the sunroom, etc. Now she goes up to the couch, and is learning to go up into the Jeep. She seemed comfortable with the ramp from day one.
There's no traction on the ramp
If you have a truck, don't bother with this ramp. The incline is too steep and the ramp has sandpaper like grip. My dog had to dig his nails into the ramp and could still barely get any traction. It would be nice for something maybe 3 feet off the ground to lower the incline, but a truck bed was a little too steep for this ramp.
Sturdy ramp with a couple minor issues
First, I want to say I full heartedly recommend this ramp. It is sturdy enough for our 105lb rottie mix. We bought it ahead of his ACL surgery with only a couple days to train and it took 1 try to get him comfortable using it. He was leary but being so sturdy he had no issue when he was on it. We are now into week 2 of using it. It shows minor signs of wear, the grip tape has some marking on it (thats it!) and still is as sturdy as the day we bought it. Now for the minor issues, the way it folds is inconvenient. Instead of folding end over end (bottom to top) to make folding and unfolding easy, it must be flipped over, folded in from the bottom and then the top. Then it must be resituated the ramp in the back of the vehicle. If it folded differently it would be much less of a hassle. Additionally the grip while good, isn't great. Other ramps have a more "3D" grip mat vs this sand paper type grip. I think older dogs would have an issue with this type of grip.
Great long ramp
We got this ramp for our backyard deck steps for our Dachshunds to use, mainly our girl. She is becoming a ramp champ. I took the two SuperTrax from our old ramp and put onto this one. I wish I had two more to put on this ramp for her.
